Configuring LEAP on T60 Thinkpad with VISTA..... help me?

I have an Lenovo T60 Thinkpad, with an Intel 2945-ABG wireless card built-in, and I want to setup a LEAP wireless connection under MS-VISTA.

With T40,41,42 laptops running XP I've used Intel ProSet Wireless utility for LEAP configurations, but I can't do it under VISTA.

I've tried using the Thinkvantage Access Connections 4.31b to configure LEAP, but I cannot choose a LEAP conection.




Any suggestions?

Wireless works just fine with ThinkVantage Access Connections or the Intel ProSet software.


But... The problem I"m having is I can't configure a 802.1x LEAP connection, preferably using logon-creditentals.

On the exact same laptop I can do a 802.1x LEAP connection under XP, but cannot under Vista.

Sounds like the drivers don't support it yet. Which is unusual because proset is the most awesome client there is.

You're saying you're using the latest proset utilitiy but do not have the choice of using LEAP? What authentication/EAP methods does the wireless network support?

I thought that leap was old and would not be supported under Vista. I know that Cisco has published at least two alerts regarding leap.
Maybe they will not make drivers for it.

Mweaver you said does intel not support Vista yet? the question is does Microsoft?

I wanna use the Intel util, but it doesn't install.

Two available Vista packages from Intel
--Intel Proset application & driver
--Intel Proset Driver

If I install the app&driver package I get a start menu group which contains "Advanced Statiticss" and "Manual Diagnostics"......but no Intel Proset Tool....



With the intel pro set, this is what I did on XP

1. Install Proset tool with the "Single Sign On" option checked, reboot
2. open Intel Proset wireless and setup new profile with following settings

General Settings window
--Profile Name "My company name"
--SSID -> A very long and complicated string of characters so we copy/paste it

Security Settings Window
--Enterprise Security checked
--Network Authentication --> Open
--Data Encryption --> WEP
--Enable 802.1x checked
----Authentication type --> LEAP
----Either select "prompt user" or "Use logon ID and password....it authenticates to ActiveDirectory


Thats it..... maybe with above info about the connection someone can give me a suggestion on how to configure a wi-fi connection using one of the three methods:

1. Microsoft Vista Wireless network tool
2. Lenovo Access Connections
3. Intel Proset wireless util


also, I've tried using Microsoft, Lenovo, and Intel drivers on each wi-fi util, but no sucess.
