Configuring network card in SuSe RedHat 10

I downloaded the .vhd for SUSE Redhat Enterprise Linux from http://download.novell.com/Dow...d?buildid=VNa_x9mHGJQ~.

I can't get the virtual network card up. I have a NIC connected to the external network on my VM. In the VM, I click 'Computer' then 'Network: None' which brings up the YaST2 Network Setup Method screen.

I click on 'Traditional Method with ifup' and click Next.

In the Network Card Configuration Overview, it shows the "Digital DECchip 21140 [FasterNet]" network card configured for DHCP, which is what I want.

This shows the OS 'sees' the virtual NIC. Right?

I complete the wizard, but the network device just isn't there. I do an ifconfig -a and the only interfaces I see are lo and sit0.

How do I get my eth0 device?

You might want to play with the device's settings, particularly the "when to start" thing. If it's set to "when cable is connected" or "user", try "at boot" or whatever other choices it offers you.

Thanks, Peter. It's configured to start at boot. (And I have rebooted since.)

No. This was the state of things before I posted here.

What driver is SUSE using for the NIC? It should be using "tulip", and any other driver just won't work.
