I really hate leaving my PC up on the net without a firewall, but I've always found ZA/Tiny to be too intrusive (ie: asking me every 5 minutes to allow outbound traffic, etc). For this reason, I used BlackIce for some time, right up until my upgrade to XP. Blackice now gives me BSOD's, so I'm back to being firewall-less.
I liked the XP firewall (some sort of gui that showed me where attacks were coming from would be nice, but I can live without it), except for one thing. When connecting to IRC servers, it adds 30-60 seconds of connect time. Is there any way to configure it so it allows all traffic on certain ports?
And before someone comes in here saying not to use the XP Firewall because it only protects one way traffic, I don't want to hear it. I'm savvy enough that I don't need to worry about Trojan horse programs, I keep my virus definitions updated and my system clean.
TIA guys!
