I hope someone can help me out here. A client of mine is having trouble configuring a few computers I sold them to intereface with their TCP/IP network and I'm wondering what they need to do differently from Windows 98 to get them going. The NIC's are lit up and are visible in the device properties without any indication of conflicts. Help help help!

Thanks in advance!

im not sure if your asking this or not, but, right click on "my network places", click properties, then right click properties of the LAN connection, and you can configure from there.

I can't think of any particular difference besides the modified TCP/IP stack, although I don't think that would interfere in the way they described. They aren't running dhcp, and I don't believe they've set their IP's to any of the resricted address (ie 127.xxx.xxx.xx, 255.000.000.00) yet they still see nada. I'll have them replace the cables, or try other previously fucntioning nodes to see if it's a problem with something like that. But as far as configuring the network is concerned, there's no difference between ME and 98?

S/b no difference in setting up network properties between 98 and ME. Why not give us a few more details about the problem and what you've done so far ... i.e. adapters, clients, and protocols installed, their settings, etc?

TCP/IP is the only installed (not just inactive) protocal on the network and system. DHCP is not available, these systems are HP 7845 P3 866 Minitowers with integrated Rj45 adapters (not a clue who technology it is based on.) I'll try to determine their network size, some more details on their server, and some basic troubleshooting. But as long as you all can confirm there is very little that differentiates W98 from WME then we'll just have to go from there. Thanks!

IRQ conflict; turns out they're sharing an IRQ with the sound card, the ACPI and a few other things. I would've figured HP would've ironed something like that out during assembly. Oh well THanks for your help!
