I know...I got cut in half and everything...darn Obi!!!

Sorry for the salt in your wounds, but, the facts are the facts, those cards that "should" be doing 600MHz are stuck to no better than an average to ok overclock. In other words, they do suck for the promise they were marketed to give.

Maybe someone will figure out a voltage mod to increase the RAM voltage. I think we need more feedback before we declare the card a DUD.

There was some talk over at the HardOCP forums the other day about the eVGA, but I havent been able to get in over there

All I want to know is that the card will preform on par with all the other Ti200 cards out there. Will it? For $189 shipped and no tax I think it's an ok deal.

Yes, it should run @ 175/400 absolutely fine. As for OCing, sounds like this won't touch the VisTeks and Gainwards, which easily OC to regular GF3's and sometimes Ti500 speeds. Definitely goes to show as someone else pointed out that RAM speed isn't the only factor in getting the RAM to actually hit higher speeds...looks like you need a core from a solid batch as well.

<Pulls out 'DUD' stamp>

bevo and anyone else who has the eVGA card. Will the card run stock core speed 175mhz and rated ram speed 600mhz. The part which makes this card stand out is the memory, not the card. It would be interesting to see if this TI-200 could do 175/600. TIA

the Ti 200's use a different PCBs then the Ti 500s

it gives the Ti 500 an advantage at higher memory speeds

i highly doubt many of these cards will reach the 600 mark
you would be pretty lucky so - GL

on another note

SUMA's Geforece 3 Ti 200 uses the same PCBs as the Ti 500s
and it has 3.8ns memory

I havent seen one for sale let alone any SUMA cards

The TI 500's use 8 layer pcb's. this helps them achieve higher speeds since they have reworked the power distribution on the card. That is the reason Suma uses 8 layer on their Ti 200. But with overclocking, it is just luck fo the draw for the most part. I doubt keeping the core low will have any impact on the memory, they do not share voltage regulation.

If the core speed is slower It will have a huge effect on 3dmark scores though. I run a 1.4 athlon running stock. Here are my scores.

Stock ti200 settings 175/400 6499

http://gamershq.madonion.com/compare2k1.shtml?2067898

oc'ed to regular gf3 specs 200/460 6950

http://gamershq.madonion.com/compare2k1.shtml?2060652

Oc'ed to 250/478 7499

http://gamershq.madonion.com/compare2k1.shtml?2060940

NOw I ran it at 175/478 I only got 6656 That's inly less than 200 points for just the memory boost, it needs the core also.

This is with the visiontek black friday card. I got by far less points with the lower core speed. Even if the memory speed gets up there around 6000 you still have to have the core to back it up. I'm not saying it's not going to get it, but it is still to be seen. I would have to see a memory gain and also a goot core oc before I would get rid of this card for it.

Ya 3Dmark is prolly the only benchmark you will see a noticeable increase by just bumping the core. Load up UT, Q3, and any other real game, and the core bump'age just don't matter.

Huh? 3Dmark isn't a game?!?! That's all I ever play!

I find it hard to believe that 750 points in 3dmark translates to no gaming gains. I guess everyone should just put a 100mhz core in then.

Actually, once you get into the 7000+ 3dmarks range, it really doesn't make that much of a difference. All those extra points don't translate into too much (5 or 6 fps in the first 4 benches), and the majority of the increase is in the "nature" game which compares to few games out today. Games like UT, Q3 and older generation games are equivalent to the low-end benchmarks, and are probably closer to 3dmark2000 benches. You just won't see much of a difference at all when your frames are already ~130 fps.

If I don't get 606mhz mem out of the box, I am thinking about flashing the bios up to a ti500 nvidia ref. bios....
bios files
what do you guys think?

Bozo:

The German site might say PowerStrip 3.11, but when you download it and install it, it still says 3.10, Entech site still has 3.10 listed also.

I don't know where "Phil" from 3dchipset gets his info, but the korean site that is linked at 3dchipset does not mention ANYTHING about flaws (I'm Korean). It's basically a news link stating that evga has a new card with 3.3 ns chips. Hopefully the card they tested which barely hit 480 was a bad card...

Update:
I checked the Hardforums as they have a few members with this card as well...seems like they all had results similar to Bevo....all mazed out around 230/530...

<< Using riva tuner, the highest 3dmark has run is 230/530, and that is with some tearing. >>

Gee Bevo, doesn't seem like the eVGA is anywhere close to impressive. @ 230/530, that's about what people with other brand cards are able to go up to. My MSI Ti200 can do 240/520 on stock cooling w/o any artifacts or tears whatsoever.

Although this information is not much useful to the folks in the U.S., I've just installed the SUMA GeForce Ti-200 SE w/ 3.6 memory (280,000 Korean won which is about $215 at on-line stores). Cranked it up to 250/550, and I played the Return to Castle Wolfenstein w/o any artifacts (only played 30 min. though). The board uses a black 8-layer pcb board just like Ti-500 & has a TV-out and the DVI connector. It's got a silver ramsinks and a hsf on the core as well. It came with Max Payne (too bad...I already have'em). Will post further overclocking results later.

If you want the best GF3 Ti200, then go to Newegg and get the Gainward GF3 Ti200/450.
It is only $170 + $5 shipping.
I have now tested 3 of them, and all hit at least 260 core, 560 memory,
and ran 3dmark 2001 at those speeds flawlessly.

Too bad the ones I tested were for customers, and I am stuck with the VT GF3 Ti200.
But for $99 the VT was still a good deal.

I probably would have jumped on the Gainward card myself except for one thing: IT AIN'T GOT NO DVI CONNECTOR!!!!!!, and there is definitely a LCD Monitor in my future.

Oh, well.......cant have everything I guess!!!!!!!.......:Q:Q

What's DVI again? Is that only for LCD monitors?
