Doesn't mean I like rap. I can't fuggin' stand it. Only rap song I like is California by TuPac and Dr. Dre. Well, maybe a few other Tupac songs like Change and Dear Momma, but that's about it.

All the rest is crap

Hip Hop/Rap is being represented not because Black's are too ignorant to get the free sh!t. It's because it is more popular with all spectrum's of the rainbow. Hell, we even have our token white guy winning grammy's for it.

How many non-white Rock bands do you know of? The last I remember was Living Color although Santana is still around. How many black boy bands do you know of, thank god none...but New Edition was 10 times better than the ones we have now.

I listened to rap almost exclusively in high school, yet oddly enough am not Black. Although I don't listen to it much nowadays is due to the modern rap song being incredibly stupid and retarded. Whatever happened to EPMD, NWA, Quest, Scarface, Ghetto Boys, and the old LL?
What happened to them? They got old, grew up, and had families. Yeah they were good, but did you really expect another 10 years of imitations of those classic artist's styles? Yes, I forgot, hip hop or any musical genre for that matter isn't allowed to grow and evolve.

Let's face it, many great artists have come out since the ones you've listed who have artistically changed hiphop and rap for the better... Artists such as Busta Rhymes, Bone Thugs, Mobb Deep, Master P, Snoop, Canibus, Hieroglyphics, Common, Gangstarr, Missy Elliot, A Tribe Called Quest, Jurrasic Five, Bigpun/FatJoe, Wu Tang and even Nas have all brought something new to the table in their primes. Not to mention who started it all, Public Enemy!

Yes, hiphop and rap have been pretty watered down lately... carbon copies of Jay-Z: braggadocio about bling, hoes and money. Fact of the matter is, just when you think rap and hiphop is dying, something comes along to jump start the genre (latest has been Eminem, before that Biggie/Jay-Z/Pac. No, 50 Cent hasn't done a dam thing except clone Jay-Z's content except with a lisped and lazy style).

Other proof that hiphop and rap have evolved is that the past couple of years they are starting to incorporate other global forms of music/languages into their beats and raps. It probably first started when Big Pun/Fat Joe/Cypress started to appeal to the latin community. Now we're hearing Indian, Asian, and even French fused into beats and phrases... I had a discussion 4 years ago that rap and hiphop was in its dying stage, unless it started to borrow from other cultures, styles, and genres (think classical/New Age/drum n' bass). It has successfully begun to do this, although still in its infancy stages. Don't be surprised at all to see an Asian/Indian/French/Russian/etc rapper as big as Eminem come up soon... it's all a function of the US's further mixing of the salad bowl ethnically, which will benefit all genre's of music and especially HipHop.

two words: who cares???

this is my take on rap music. rap music main cateres to low- mid class blacks. basically these blacks are making a few blacks (rappers) rich, which they themselves are getting poorer as a whole.

this is my take on you: dumb

Top 50 Singles

I count at least eight hip-hop/rap in the top10. Low/Mid class blacks only, huh?

keep the personal insults to yourself.
blacks are a large percentage of the US population.
how many blacks you know that go on the internet to download music?? they actually buy cd's. thats why its inflated with rap/hip hop.

13% of the US is black. "large percentage"? I think not. Have you any evidence to back up your assertion that blacks don't download music and that they buy more CD's than whites or other minorities?

well lets say that US is made up of 50% white. 90% or blacks (13%) goes out and buys cds = 11.7% total pop.
and lets say 20% of whites (50%) buys cds, most of them just download = 10% total pop.

no i dont have evidence that blacks download less than whites or other minorities. its just my opinion on the matter that is all

muahahah ,.. those are nice statss .. you must be the next coming of Michael Moore.

Tetsuo???? there a problem with a black man listening to a white band or a white man listening to a black band?

I love old blues and jazz but I am white, I am not trying to be a blues or jazz session man though.
