Unbelievable. What an amazing victory.
It's nice to watch a guy who's such a class act get his due.

Provided he didn't use performance enhancing substances or otherwise illegal bodytechniques.

Are you aware that when you post here, you are essentially broadcasting your stupidity to the entire world?

I'm saying I like the guy, provided that he didn't cheat. I hope he didn't, but there is speculation. Sorry that I brought in a rational thought and personal sentiment, I didn't realize this thread only allowed what you deemed right.

They test all the riders for performance enhancing drugs. If he was dopping they'd most likely catch it. If there's no proof that he's taken performance enhancing drugs then it's just baseless speculation. Might as well argue that the world is flat while you're at it.

When did I argue that he was doping?
I agreed that it was a great achievment and that I was happy, provided he never did anything illegal along the way. I cannot defend that he did or didn't so I hope that it wasn't the case.

do you believe everything that the media says for higher ratings?

Do you have a reading disability?

Hoping he never doped after hearing claims of alleged doping earlier in his career does not equate to believing everything the media says. If anything, it is the opposite.

Tell that to his ex-wife who he left.

It looked more like she's the one who left since she got sick of cycling this cycling that.

hm.. what would happen if someone tackled Lance and smashed up his bike?

Can lance get a backup bike and keep riding to the finish line?

How about if someone knocked lance out? Can someone on his team put him on his bike, and carry him to the finish line?

His discovery teamates usually ride around him in the peloton to protect him. Popoyvch (his teammate) usually rides close to Lance to give up his bike incase Lance needs it. + there is always the team car at the back which carries extra bikes.

I guess you didn't see the super chicken yesterday, he went through 4 bikes on the time trial.

Best thing about the Tour are the lovely ladies that present the jerseys.

He's finishing up right now on OLN if you want to watch.

Edit: BTW, since I've heard people say otherwise: Lance >>>>>...>>>>> Tiger
While I'll toast to Lance, your last comment tells me you've had enough beer.

Give a lot of credit to Floyd Landis as well - he moved up incredibly in the rankings this year to within the top 10. He's one of the best hopes for a US tour win in the future.

Lance Armstrong has to be athlete of the year, if not the decade. He is very obsessive about bicycling and his physical condition, which put a strain on the relationship with his ex, he married to his work.

As I understand Runners and Cyclist get better with Age this might not be his last. Kudos to his partner also. His partner does a lot of wind resistance and other things to help lance win these events. He desevers recognition. I think discovery is doing a special on him.

It wasn't his cycling or his time training in europe. Armstrong just decided that he wanted to ride more than bikes while he was away.

Too bad, his wife was very supportive during the cancer trials. It takes a special person to resist temptation they someone becomes a superstar...unfortunately Armstrong apparently isn't as special off the bike as is on it.

I honestly doubt that. But heh... what do I know... it's not like I know the guy to even make assumptions based on what the media or anyone says.

Anti-Armstrong because he beat cancer and wants to find a cure as well as save others that potentially could die from it?:disgust:

Sure you can, they test for it so you can definitely defend that he didn't do it. There is actual proof. There is no proof that he is using performance enhancing drugs so to argue that or even bring it up in this discussion is pointless. The only thing it does is detract from this mans amazing accomplishments.

Lance has been a professional rider for over a decade. If you knew anything about it you would understand that accusations made against him are from earlier in his career mostley. These are past events that testing today has no relevance to and why I can only hope that he did not.

Can you follow this or do I need to draw a diagram of logic and time for you?

Erm...
Don't know him. don't know about racing. Don't know about doping. But this news article and these accusations/thoughts are recent. I hope he is clean, I really do. and thiese accusations, questions are probably just sour grapes/jealousy... but they are there and they are recent.

yea, he's one of the few top athletes that is not just the best, but so far ahead of the pack that he is truely exceptional. total domination.

Well good thing he's retiring so they can pick on somebody else now. Yey.

Those accusations about him and Ferrari are old by the way. They just resurface every year at the same time as the TdF and there's always a couple of people in the peloton who says something. Oh well. Can't wait to see who they accuse next year.

Accusations are not any form of proof or even a reason to have a question. All there is to it is there is a guy who can do stuff that other people can't do as well, and they can't accept so they whine about it.

the french press publishes the same rumors of every front running rider in the tour (well, maybe not for a frenchman) every single year. i bet they have a form in the back where the reporter need only fill in a few names and they have story. even mentioning such accusations gives them far more credence than they deserve.
