*CONFIRMED!* Price adjusting the BestBuy stuff DOES WORK!

I saw a few people requesting that us east-coasters let them know the results of trying to get the price adjustment on prepurchased items, and I'm glad to report it was a success! On my GF3 and 2hdd's (passed one hdd to a friend, one purchased with cash one with a CC so I can get 2 rebates), ALL of them were given a "Virtual" MIR, meaning they actually gave me the rebate money right on the spot! A friend of mine who just called me who went a little later than I did didn't get a virtual MIR so your luck will probably vary.

The rebate receipt will work... if it doesn't, you'll be called or get a postcard or something and then you can go down to your local BB and get it taken care of, or if you never get anything just bring down everything (copies of your rebate, etc.) to your local Best Buy and get your money there. If anyone thinks this information should be revised or added to, please PM me!

Well, no virtual rebate here-- still got hit up for $99 on the 60 gig'er and have to mail in the $50... had to return the one bought Tuesday-- I had bought the 7200 RPM drive instead of the 5400 rpm drive on ad special. hehe... But the real interesting part here was my local Best Buy (South County St. Louis) opened at 6am instead of 7am... hate to be that manager in about 30 minutes when those thinking 7am was opening time show up! Oh well, live and learn. Didn't even pursue anything else, but seemed well stocked on everything.

Oh thank god... I hope this works for me. I'm about to head down to the Clearwater, FL store, and just waiting for my dad to take me (long story, in college but home for Thanksgiving and car is back in Orlando). I'm a shy person and hope I don't get CS people who are resistant to this.

Good luck.. the lines at 630AM were incredible.. couple 100 people long... go check out ATOT and see the complaints.

My bb only had one gf3 card at it, good for me not many around here read anandtech....had a poor soul ask me where I got the card I said it was on the shelf aren't there any more..? PM was a success. no virtual rebate, still have to do the paperwork..

I got mine wednesday and got the price correction today, the freaking queue was amazing. I never knew ann arbor had so many people. Queue to get in, queue to get into the computer section and a queue to pay, insane. no queue in the returns dept thought. got my 50 bucks back and left. Hope you guys got yours.

Well, the "poor man's lay-away" worked fine here...went in there monday and hid 2 GF3s and 2 HDs (I hid one of each in two hiding places)...I go there this morning at 6:50am...HUGE line....easily 1000 people. However, getting inside only took 15 minutes after the store opened, and through the confusion of people looking for stuff and wondering where the checkout lines were, I got my dad in line instantly and retrieved my hidden stuffs. Was out of the door at 7:30 am

Just finished filling out the rebates. I noticed the GF3 rebate is directly to Visiontek, not Best Buy I hope they're as reliable as Best Buy.

got my price adjustment here for the GF3 and HD done without a hitch too... did it at the BB at Old Orchard, IL.... the customer service line was almost non-existent, i walked right up, asked for price adjustment and they were only too glad to give it to me and get rid of me coz it was a madhouse in there... but the stuff about 15 minimum per store is total BS... my BB did not even have any GF3 on the shelf (i was 2nd in line!) and less than 5 HDs.... i felt bad for the other peeps who went way early to get the GF3 and yet ended up with nothing... although i was a little worried they may not PM the GF3 for me coz they didn't have any in the store this morning, but my worries were unnecessary...

no virtual MIR for me either... gotta do the paperwork but i'm sure the money will come thru soon enough...

My receipt just shows a pricematch, a rebate form did NOT print with it, since I paid cash with the one I bought today I will most likely make a copy of that receipt to submit with the rebate, I don't think they would honor a receipt with today's date that says pricematch...so I would say yes request return and repurchase, other opinons?

I got a pricematch with just the receipt.. They issued a new receipt stating a pricematch (basically one item @$199 returned, one item @$149.99 purchased) and dated 11/23. They also gave me a mail-in rebate printout.

EMO is correct - you get your receipt showing a PM and you get a printed rebate ticket

SUCCESS!! Went in, the store was mobbed. Waited in line for about 30-40 min, just said "I'd like to pricematch these two things" (hd and video card) "Ok, here you go" "Are there rebate forms, too?" "Oh, yeah, let me do those."

Pricematch was easy. I can't believe nobody is worried though that the pricematch (drag and drop into address bar) receipt may not work with Visiontek's rebate. . It does put the original sale date on there -- I just don't want to get screwed out of $50. I can always return and rebuy it if anybody thinks there will be a problem with it.

$53 because $50 + 6% tax = $53...got the same thing today from the edison nj location (across woodbridge mall)...

the guy didn't wanna be there, and when i told him i wanted to RETURN it and rebuy it, he insisted it would work if he just pricematched it...

i don't think it'll work, so i'm gonna go back AGAIN later today, when someone else is there, and RETURN it and rebuy it...

btw, i went there at 8am (1hr after the store opened) and the line was freakin insane...i told the stupid employee in front that all i wanted to do was a price adjustment, not shop (they closed the doors because too many people were inside) but my pleading apparently fell upon deaf ears...

a little clarification on my pricematch... the CSR dude rang up a new receipt titled "Rebate Receipt" for each of my items and the receipts are both dated today (23 Nov) and seem to indicate a return of the item, and then sale of the item... hmmm.... sounds like a return and rebuy then.... yeah well, maybe that's what they do for pricematches...

like what-e-ver I did it the old fashioned way. Got to Best Buy in Scranton, PA (30,000 lbs. of bananas) at 6:15am, there were about 80 people in head of me. By the time the store opened at 7am, there were about 500 people in line. I ran over to the hard drives and grabbed one. I was the first one to the hard drives. They had maybe 5 of them. Then I got into the Memory/E-machines package line which ws moving very slowly. The people in back of that line will literally be there all day, since about 30 pieces of paper have to be printed out between the rebate forms and copies of the receipts.
