I'll have to object to Clammy3... i went to the same store, only to find morons who can't figure out there's parking on the top of the garage.. UGH..

i waited in line for about 10 minutes.. when a guy went around checking to see if ppl were doing returns or something else w/ their computer purchases. I didn't bother asking him but the lady behind me wanted a price adjustment... when he came back, i ask him for one.. 5 minutes later (he was juggling 5 tasks at once.. gotta love workin at best buy ) i had my rebate form (after reminding him), PM receipt, and original. All good to go.

Well, i was able to get the pricematch on the HD, but will need to mail in the rebate. I was unlucky in getting the gforce3 ti-200 for $99 bucks since I was like 200th in line and only 15 per store. I thought my whole day was ruined, but with preserverance, I went to Circuit City and Compusa to pricematch some dvds along with the gforce3 card. Circuit City was like dead compared to BestBuy and they pricematched everything as well as having a good deal on Traffic and Rush Hour.

The best part was going to Compusa and pricematching the Ti-500 Gforce3 card which retails at $350 for $150 since they dont pricematch the mail in rebate. I then went back to best buy to get a print out of the mail in rebate to see if it was a manufacturers rebate that might allow me to get the extra $50 bucks back. No dice, need to be Ti-200.

I hate to be redundant here, but did anyone get a Rebate Receipt? I'm not talking about the Rebate Form, but the Rebate Receipt. I got a rebate form, rebate receipt and sales receipt.

UCB2001: I'd be pleased as hell to get the Ti500 for $50 more than the Ti200. Count your blessings dood..

For you guys having trouble with the price match. Take this advice.. Don't take no for an answer from someone that doesn't have the power to say yes. Those CSR's are screwed! Talk to a manager.

I was price matching my stuff with one CSR and the CSR next to him was telling a guy that everything in the ad was for the 5 hour sale only. That's bs because it clearly states on some of the items in the ad that they are on sale for Friday and Saturday only. Besides, how was I able to get a price match at 8 p.m. if everything on the flyer was only for the 5 hour sale? I wanted to strangle this moron.

No tale of woe from me. I went to the Cerritos BB about 7:30 PM to price match my 60Gig HD. Stood in line for about 10 minutes. When I got
to the counter, I showed the guy the ad and my receipt. He took the receipt, printed out an exchange slip that
he had me fill out. I asked him if he needed the credit card I used to pay for my 60 gig HD. He tells me no. That
all my info is still in their memory. So he prints out another receipt, shows me all the $$ info. Here's what it read:
Return Items: 149.99-
Sale Items: 99.99
Subtotal: 50-
Sales Tax 8% 4-.00
Total: 54.00
I told him the price was wrong and that I should get a rebate form for the fifty dollar rebate. He told me that it wasn't
necessary since the rebate was taken care of.
I don't have a scanner or my digital camera with me. But I'll snap a pic of the receipt tomorrow for any non believers.
For what it's worth, I bought the hard drive Wednesday. Paid for it with a VISA credit card. I wasn't expecting that
virtual rebate. But I'll take it.

For everyone in the Chicago area I can confirm that both PMing and return/rebuy on the HDD and Ti200 will work at the BB in Bloomingdale, IL (by the Stratford mall, western burbs). The CSR I spoke with there was awesome...an older guy around 40ish, we had a nice little chat about how "bitchy" the pricks at BB HQ were. The guy told me he only worked nights because he had a "real job" during the day. Hehe...

I have pretty much every possible form now: sale, PM, and rebate receipts, plus rebate forms. I think I will send in the rebate receipts plus a copy of the sales receipt just to be sure, since BB will supposedly accept photocopies of receipts.

Salvador, you send in the rebate receipt and the rebate form. You keep the original receipt as proof of purchase/warranty in case of probs later.

The Milpitas BB wouldn't let me price adjust the cards so me and my bro went to Palo Alto and no hassle there.

Ok.. If this is the case, you should have no problem just doing a pricematch as long as the rebate receipt and rebate form printed out. I had originally thought that BB wanted a copy (Xeroxed) of the sales receipt and the rebate form. I took a look at both my rebate receipts from after the pricematch and after I went back and did a return/rebuy and they are virtually identicle.

I'm wondering if when BB says that they will not take a pricematch receipt, they are simply saying that they want the rebate receipt instead and we are interpreting it as BB will not take a sale that has been pricmatched.

Does that make sense?

BB would save a crap load of confusion if they simply worded what they wanted better. Why don't they say that they want the rebate receipt, rebate form and UPC? They should also put on there that they will accept a copy of the original sales receipt if you don't have the rebate receipt.

I think they want to make it confusing because they are looking for any excuse not to pay out the money for the MIR. Did you ever notice that when you get the rebate check, it is cleverly disquised as a piece of junk mail? I almost threw out one of my rebate checks thinking this. They have to honor the rebate, but really don't want you to ever cash it.

Anyway..

Hello all...

I am just picking up on this thread - better late then never, I spose...

Anywas, would love to get this card (especially for $99.00 )

Tried to go to the BB website, but will no longer let you place orders on the GF3

1) So, should I try to go to the store and get a raincheck?
2) Do you have to tell them to pricematch something to get the $149 price?
3) Can you then get the $50 rebate right at the store?

Thanks in advance for my ignorance - pls reply, thx...

I was in Southfield, MI BB PMing the GF3 and HD around 7:30am. When I pulled the GF3 out of my bag, a swarm of geeks and losers crowded my personal buffer space just wanting to see it and know if I was going to return it, heheh.

Best entertainment value at BB Black Friday was standing by the GF3 shelf space and quickly snatching one of the few remaining GF2 boxes (which look nearly identical) just as someone came fast walking up to it, causing them to grab and dash with a huge grin.

wow, just walked into the WPB store at 10:30 AM Friday (no wait in the return line even though the store was packed) and said I bought these (RAM and HD=$211) the other day and now they are on sale. The Clerk took my receipt, credited my credit card for the difference ($75) and printed up a couple of rebate coupons, gave me all the new reciepts and said thank you very much.

Like taking candy from a baby...
Thank you Anandtech!

Ok.. New wrinkle. I just called the 800 number for rebates again to get a clarification on what they need and they say that they want a photo copy of the sales receipt. I asked why and I asked why they even bother to print out a rebate receipt. The CSR said that they are looking into it. He said that they need a copy of the sales receipt because it has all the info on it and some manufacturers require this. I asked what would happen if someone sent in the rebate receipt and the rebate form (not the sales receipt) and he said that it would probably come up invalid. Nice job Beast Buy!

So.. Off I go to return and rebuy once again. I bought my card and hdd early, but then got 1 more hdd the day of the sale on a separate receipt. I'm afraid to send in two rebate submissions on the hdd because I paid with the same cc on both sales and it would be tough to use my dad's address and name for one of them when the sales receipt has my name on it.

I guess I'm going to take the card and hdd back once again and tell them that I'm hiding this sale from my wife and need to rebuy paying with cash. Sounds sort of funny, but I can't think of what else to do here.

Maybe I can say that I'm close to the limit on the card and need to make an online purchase or something. I don't know..

<< The drive is made by our well known and trusted Best Buy generic computer peripherals manufacturer.... Digital Research Technologies! 16/10/40 with "Buffer Under Run technology onboard!" aka BURNPROOF... woo hoo! What a deal! >>

Actually the drive is made by someone else but Digital research put there name on it. Mine was an IOMagic drive. Others said they got a BTC drive. It will vary according to the lot and how old the stock is.

Salvador , I don't believe what that CSR told you. They can't change the RULES printed on the rebate form without telling everybody. Send the UPC, rebate form and rebate receipt and you should be fine.

Good grief. I am now totally confused when reading everyone's different answer towhat items should be sent in for the rebate. In one case, I have the original sales receipt ( when I purchased earlier in the week ), a new rebate receipt, and a PRICEMATCH or EXCHANGE receipt. In another case, I have the original sales receipt, and a new PRICEMATCH or EXCHANGE receipt. One time I got the rebate receipt and another time I did not. So, what the hell do I send in. I got from a good source, to not send in the original sales reciept from an earlier date.

Yeah I also did the price match on the hard drive. The store was jammed, but only several people in the cust. serv. line. The grandmother clerk was quick and polite with my match and printed out the rebate form. I called the 800 # on the rebate form and was told I will be eligible for the rebate since it lists the drive as a " returned item ", then again as a new " sale item " with the date and time of the 5 hour sale. If the pricematch was done outside the 5 hour sale you may not get the rebate.

What I forgot was the rebate form says the offer date is from 11-22 till 11-24, so a purchase within this time frame will qualify for the rebate.

Bottom line is the Rebate Form asks for 3 things!

1) THIS REBATE FORM
2) COPY OF RECEIPT
3) ORIGINAL UPC BARCODE CUT FROM BOX

Why are people questioning this....?

Go back to BB and get the proper receipt! Or you may be $50 poorer

Other types of receipts may work... but why risk it?
