Hi,
I just put the components togheter, installed WinXP Pro SP2, some basic stuff
and started tests before overclocking:
Asus P5B (Vanilla)
C2D E6400 (2M)
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme + Akasa Ultra Quiet 120mm (18dbA/45CFM)
2Gb OCZ DDR2 PC6400 Dual
XFX 7600GT
Case Fans: 2xEnermax Marathon 120mm (17dbA/44CFM)
Asus Probe II Idle temps (MoBo/CPU): 30C/32C
Last night I put Prime95 v25.3 and went to sleep. This morning (+/- 7 hours later).
I got surprised with Asus Probe reading CPU at 109C! :Q
Immediatly I stopped Prime95.
The heatsink was not even warm and didn't feel the heat touching around
CPU nor at the MoBo "backside".
Quickly I downloaded RMClock and Speedfan to check this out:
Speedfan gave around 110C and RMClock around 29C
I got my son's infrared thermometer to be sure and the higher
temp reading that I got was 29.8C.
I'm inclined to believe in RMClock but I'd like to hear your opinion.
How come Asus Probe could be so wrong ? Could you help me to
figure out this ?
Thanks in advance.
