Uhm, what?
Better min FPS? Not quite.
http://www.hardwareheaven.com/revie...gtx-570-review-gtx-570-vs-6850-crossfire.html

Better DX11? what does that even mean?
Folding? Not sure if thats something hes interested in.
Phsyx? Meh, ok.
Cooler, quieter? My CF 6850s currently runs at ~35c and i can't hear them.. at all. NEXT.
Xfire headaches? This is 2011, games are meant to run with multiGPU setups, so please stop with that old excuse.

min fps is pretty close and when you consider micro stutter the 570 will give a better experience at his resolution and 2 games proves nothing. I had 6870xfire and games sure felt smoother on my 570. Better dx11? Ever hear of tessellation that more and more games are using? Yes cooler and quieter with a 945/2000 oc i cant hear my 570 and it maxes at 67c on stock cooling. I find it hard to believe you max at 35c on both cards with stock cooling . Xfire headaches? I had 2x 6870's couldn't play Arma2 and there are other games people complain about it not working. 2011 doesn't matter why would I make an excuse lol look around xfire is far from perfect.

Pretty close? You said the 570 will give better minimum FPS, it's not pretty close, the 570 is behind by roughly ~15%.
That's ok, pictures worth a thousand words;

At your resolution you will not notice the max fps you will notice minimum fps. So the only advantage 6850 xfire will give you is void. The 570 will have better minimum fps,better dx11,physx,folding,cooler,quieter,cheaper,no xfire headaches, and you can get another 570 later if you upgrade monitors. I think its pointless to deal with xfire at your resolution so the 570 is an easy choice.

2 games doesn't paint the whole picture. I had xfire 6870's and games sure didn't feel as smooth as my 570 does. And that picture shows nothing but an idle temp. http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/foru...s/38626-nvidia-geforce-gtx-570-review-20.html

Didn't had the time to bench temps at full load (which is ~65c) or find some more reviews. I just posted the first review I googled, you can go ahead and do the same.
The guy was talking about how 570 has faster min fps which is simply not true, even in a heavy tessellated game like civ5. Smoother? My 6850s feels as smooth as they can be, and tbh for 280$ I wouldn't even bother looking at other cards.
Paying 100$ more for slower performance is ridiculous, heck even if they would have cost the same i'd still go for 460sli/6850cf.

Thanks for your smart apportation to the thread, keep it up.

I Used to had an HD 4870 CF and never had an issue except with Splinter Cell Conviction which scaling was under 40% and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit which all the screen was white.

It doesn't matter if dual 6850's are perfect or not, he doesn't need that much power for his resolution, anyway. I would vote "none of the above" and get a 560 or 6950 1gb. Then, if a year or two from now he needs more power he can dual the single card later on at a significant discount.
