Confused about W32.Pinfi Virus

Norton's popped up last night saying it had detected this virus while I was downloading. It wasn't in Quarantine and the AV log viewer shows "Access denied" and "Repair failed". I couldn't delete the file in windows so I went into safe mode and deleted it. Two subsequent scans show no virus'. I am a little concerned because this virus can spread along networks and I have two more machines on this one.
Did Norton's handle it without deleting or quarantining it?

Are you asking why norton couldn't take care of it? Some viruses R the suck. I had a computer that I worked on yesterday with 30 infected files with one being really stupid. I had to also boot into safe mode to nuke it. Fine after that. You shouldn't be worried really.

Basically, yes. It found it but did nothing with it.

Missed your title. Our writeup is here. If you removed the file as you indicated and NAV isn't seeing it when you rescan, your ok. Not sure exactly what happened in your case, sounds like the virus got running for a brief time (do you have autoprotect on?) and NAV couldn't access one of the files that housed it (the one you manually removed).

Auto-Protect is on as is Auto Live Update (love that).
I just assumed that it would get quarantined. Glad to know I am safe and it's OK to start the other machines.

Might be stating the obvious, but you shoud scan the other PCs too just to make sure they're not infected.
