Hi all, I'm having a very strange problem with my laptop and I'm tending to think that the problem is more hardware related than it is software. The reason I think this is because I'm dual booting windows 7 and Ubuntu and the problem exists in both operating systems(unable to connect to wifi.) The internet works if I plug in the cord to the laptop itself but the wifi is just messed up.
All of the usual software issues that I could think of couldn't be the problem because the problem exists in two completely different operating systems so reinstalling the drivers can't be the issue. Never-the-less I still reinstalle3d the network controller drivers in windows and it didn't work.
I installed Ubuntu about 2 months ago and the wifi was running perfectly fine for about 2 months and then nothing. I don't think I messed with any network settings in Ubuntu but for arguments sake lets say I did; could settings that I changed in Linux affect the wifi in windows? Probably a dumb question as I don't think it could but I'm really starting to run out of ideas here.
In windows it says all the hardware is installed and working properly however when I go into command prompt and type ipconfig/ipconfig -all it says the wireless media is disconnected.
Does this sound like a hardware issue? Any help is much appreciated, thanks in advance for the help. I really have no idea what else I can try without bringing it somewhere and having them look at it, which I despise having to do haha.
