The brand and the people

A few weeks back we learned that ATI lost a valuable partner. Connect 3D is gone and a lot of people went to other companies, including Zotac or some other partners.

Connect 3D went bankrupt a few months ago and unknown company acquired the brand. It is unknown what this new company plans to do with the brand and if we are going to see graphic cards with this brand in the future.

ATI has less partners and has lost a loyal one that will be missed. There are still a bunch of the willing so things looks good.

I had an X700 Pro that I suspected was defective. I wonder if that had any impact.

The news sounds weird though. An unknown company bought them? How can they be unknown? What's going on? A phantom company?

As far as brands go, I kind of like HIS because of their cooling solutions.
Too bad they disconnected the temperature sensor for the fanless X1650 XT. I have a cool case (Coolermaster Centurion 5) and everything so I wanted to at least have an idea what the temperatures were.

Guys, Twintech3D ( www.twintech3d.com ) bought Connect3D with the intention to keep the Connect3D brand name as is, and continue releasing ATi based cards with them.
So, it'll be like Twintech's second 'branch', Twintech will be releasing nVIDIA cards, and Connect3D will be releasing the ATi counterparts

Info is official from my contacts in Twintech

Can you ask your contacts whether Twintech will honor current Connect3D's warranties?

From everyone's view, as the Connect3D brand name remains unaffected, and the cards are still in production, everyone's warranty will keep on runnin'.

None of my contacts are online or in the office at the moment, so expect the official answer by Monday afternoon

JPB feel free to remove the "take with a grain of salt" comment of the thread title as it's a done deal and confirmed by myself

As for the owners of Connect3D cards and their warranty that's what I've just got off my Twintech contact ( will update this thread as soon as I have more news ):
Copy paste from MSN conversation as I'm pretty tired atm to bother 'rephrasing text'

for this questions, we are still studying this.
because some of countries ( like USA), we don't have office there.
so, we are still studying about this warranty issue.
i will let you know asap

I wouldn't take anything you say as truth. There has been no official announcement and taking the word of someone on an internet forum is stupid.

So much for being an insider. Ripping text from another webpage and calling it your own.</end quote></div>

LOL, before you accuse me with no info and no cause, better check my previous posts, and my site and relation with hardware manufacturers.

Congrats for making yourself sound stupid

DO NOT EVEN THINK OF ABUSING THE CONTACT DETAILS SHOWN ON THE IMAGE

I booted up a new X1650 Pro card I bought from ZipZoomFly, and I had artifacts like crazy! It is outside their 30-day return, so I would have to contact the warranty provider. Now that Connect3D is apparently gone, what do I do? I plan on contacting ZZF to see if they will work with me, but now I am wishing I had ordered from the Egg (their policies are more lenient).

Any suggestions on what course to take??

Thanks!

check the mem/gpu speeds and compare to regular 1650 pro's. I had a prob with computer because connect3d card's mem speed stock was 1320 for 1900gt. I turned it down to 1200 and no more artifacts.

Thanks for the response! I will definitely check that out when I get home. The problem I would have in adjusting the timings is that the problems present themselves even during the boot process, so much so that I can barely tell it is the BIOS boot screen. I doubt I would be able to read the screen in Windows to fix the issue. Is there a way to work around this?

I've emailed ZZF, so we will see if there is a way to replace this card.
