No need to apologize, we can tell from your posts that you are experimenting/having fun with new toys and are more than willing to learn in the process unlike other posts where people ask questions they think they know the answer to then shoot gurus who disagree with them... but anyways.
You can use more than one speaker connected to only one amplifier channel. Since you have 10 to play with, Safest way is to connect 4 speakers to one channel. Connect 2 pairs of speakers in parallel to get 1.5 ohms. Then connect those parallels wires together in a series to get back 3 ohms. Now connect to left channel. Bam 4 speakers per channel. Do the same for the right channel. Now you have two left for surrounds. Turn the center channel off and have fun!
For each 4 speakers place them as close together as you can. 2 speakers producing the same sound will reinforce each other and will output an additional 3db. That's equivalent to doubling your amplifier wattage. I'm not sure of how much additional output 4 speakers have.
Realistically though, I would just choose the best 5 speakers and use both subs... more subs is often recommended in the HT world.
