No, overclocking it will get you 9700 np speeds. Softmoding it will open up the 4 unused rendering pipelines.

oh, well.. . guess I'll just keep saving for a 9800pro, thats want i want anyway. H2 and a trek thru Hell in all its super shading glory

had the saphire version of this card for a few months now...
out of 2 cards from the same batch, one modded, one didnt

softmod enables addition 4 pipelines for 8 total pipelines = 9500 Pro
overclock core and memory = 9700
overclock + softmod = 9700 Pro

newegg also sells heatsinks for video card ram... if u wanna overclock it a lot those will definately help

No no no no no no no no. Soft mod makes it more than a 9500 Pro. A 9500 Pro doesn't have 256 bit memory architecture remember?

Yes in situation where a lot of bandwidth is needed, such as at high resolution. This is one of the problems with the fx5800. Since it only had a 128 bit bus, it was slower than the 9700 once more bandwidth was needed.

hehe, i think maybe you should save up for a 9800 np cuz it is technically a 9800 pro. The only cons about it is that it doesn't o/c well.

sorry, i mean the memory on the np don't o/c too well. Usually it will do 250 while the pro version deos 260+. But hey... it's more than enough =p. If you want you can get a non-pro for 140 on dell with a system purchase. Just look for some of your 'girl' friends or other friend who are buying a dell comp and not doing too much gaming =p.
