IMHO it is if your cash-strapped. Mine unlocked easily. We'll o/c after getting an ATI silencer.

The Sapphire X800GTO2 PCI-E which you can unlock and o/c to X850PTE speeds.

The GeForce 6800GS which runs with the GT Model for less bank.

Yeah, I currently am running an AGP BFG 6800OC 128MB, this card was a hot unlocker card, some people were getting 16 pipes with 6 vertex shaders (stock was 12 & 5). Mine only did 12 pipes, but with 6 vert shaders instead of 5. Should this card here, if I get X850XT pipes/speeds beat my old vid card in every way?

Also, I was able to use the $10 off 75 coupon so my total was $169, before the $15 MIR.

Ironic, i just upgraded from a 12 X 6 6800Nu to this X800GTO (now an X800XL) and am seeing a noticable improvement.

No, I unlocked the pipelines as soon as I got the card and left it that way. I tried to test for artifacts with ATItool at 530/530. The screen promptly blacks out and I have to reboot.

With autodetect max on ATItool, I get to about 530 with the core, and about 540 on the memory, but if I set both and test for artifacts the screen just blacks out.

I bought an arctic silencer 5 rev2, but according to techpowerup the cooling doesnt help oc much, just lowers the temps.

Try flashing it back to the old BIOS and see how far it overclocks, then flash it to the 16 pipe BIOS and see how well it overclocks.

Mine unlocked and at 550/550 I got 6600 in 3dmark05. Time to research the memory timings and such to see if I can hit 7000.

I was in the same boat as most of you 550/550 and I was doing 3dmark just fine and playing all those 3d games ok..but just for fun I ran the stupid game called WORM 2D..lol..and it crashed within 20min! ...displaying obvious memory errors...and core isn't so stalbe either....so now I am sitting at 540/520 ohwell..gotta play worm ...LOL

I received my rebate back less than 1 month after mailing it in. Then I got the $5 PriceGrabber rebate, too. Total price--$139 after shipping. Unlocks to 16 pipes and does x800xt speeds with the stock cooler (and fan not set to 100% and without voltage increase) just fine.

A great deal for the time of purchase. In a couple months it won't be anything special though, what with x850xt's going for $180 and with 7800 GTs coming down to $250.

It's kind of amazing how 6800 GT prices held around $300 for so long and now the 7800 GTs are cheaper. Good--maybe we'll see some progress in video card pricing.

Rebates :| don't get me started! There are three from before X-mas that mysteriously "disappeared." In 16 years of paying credit card bills I've never had the post office lose a payment (I've had Citi sit on them, but they were hit with a class action lawsuit on that :roll: ).
