like what? Even on these cards the hardware is essentially the same (with very few excetions: Gecube comes to my mind). 499 for an XT PE is a good price, if I had no X800 XT I'd definitely grab this one.

I've had no issues with Connect3D. My friend and I have purchased several cards direct from them, with the greater portion of those being radeon 9500 cards. All cards are still running fine to this day (minus an RMA, but the replacement card is churching away happily now, a year and a half old). I'm sure Connect3D puts more quality into even higher end parts such as an X850XT PE. I've had to deal with their customer service once when I needed to RMA a card. They weren't bad at all by any means, and took care of my situation fairly promptly. I wouldn't hesitate to get something from them again provided the hardware was at a good price.

lol, sad that something being sold at retail is considered "amazing". You can get a BFG 6800 Ultra for $350. I myself can't justify $150 more for something that may or may not be faster.

Hot but I can't afford it. Gawd it makes me want to overhaul my system to nForce4

Hot because this is PCI-e. I don't think you can grab a 6800U for $500 but don't quote me on it.

You are correct. You can barely get a 6800GT in PCI-E for under $500, but they're slowly coming down.

Hi,

I'm new in this forum, but I read it every day.

I'm realy upset because I can't decide if I buy this Connect3D X850 PE or an BFG Ultra 6800 OC (only US$ 56.00 more at Monarch).

SM 3 is realy important for the next 12 months ? If believe that X850 will be good, so probably I will buy one DFI Ultra and one X850 PE. Please, your comments.

Thank you
Alex

heh, looks like you can afford both. Buy them, try them and decide which one is best for you... and the other one goes to Ebay. I doubt SM3 will play a major role in the near future.

Well technicially this is $50 under MSRP, since its the XT PE.

I decided to go ahead and pick one up even though I already have a PCI-e 6800GT, thought I'd give ATi a try, since I've never used one of their cards, and this one has dual DVI which I need. I'll probably keep the 6800 as I've gotten used to DVC and I like the nVidia control panel and drivers.

Hi Dark,

I always bought ATI. I had in the last 2 years:

9700 Hercules
9800 AIW - ATI
9800 256 Mb - ATI
9800 XT - Asus

So I never tried NVidea. I don't know if Nvidea will be more compatibly or the features will be more important in a newer future (in the next 12 months) as SM3 DX9.0C.

Thank you for your comments.

I don't think it'll make that much of a difference, but I can't say for sure, because there are several games that are supposed to support it.

I like my current 6800GT @ Ultra speeds, its run everything that I've played on it at 1600x1200 with 4xAA and however much AF smoothly enough for me. I know the X850 will do that smoother, but thats not an issue.

I'm more wanting to see what differences I see as far as just normal useage and image quality are (for instance 2D desktop quality, movie playback, etc.). I also want to check out the VIVO capabilities of it.

There should be an adapter that lets you convert a molex to the new 6 pin. If it was an nVidia card you'd need to have two molex connectors but these are able to make due with one.

Thats why on the website it asked if you want to add that power adapter for like 7 bucks. I already have the pci-e cable on my psu so i didnt buy it, but they shipped me the adapter anyways lol.
