Newtown, Conn. School District Had Recently Installed New Safety Protocols
In Letter To Parents Strict Guidelines Were Outlined For 4 Elementary Schools
My children are now (mostly) grown, but every parent understands. I can only imagine the horror and devastation of so many families today. The fact that it's right before Christmas only amplifies the pain. It must be unbearable.I'm literally sitting here typing this while tears are rolling down my cheeks. I want to stop crying but I cant. I cry for those innocent children, thinking of them and thinking of my son.
Fridays are my day-off, I saw this on the news coming back from lunch with my 6-year old son at his elementary school. If you ever saw a roomful of children sitting side by side eating their lunch you would have a hard time imagine any human being would have enough hate in his heart to harm them, much less... My wife is also from Connecticut and her family is about 20-25 miles east of Newtown.
What is wrong with us as a society that we have to endure these random shootings all across our country during this holiday season where we all should be safe and warm?
When this shit is happening more and more often (Aurora Theater Shooting, Last week's Mall shooting, now Elementary School Shooting). You have to question the status quo.
That's not what this article states...20 mass shooting in the U.S every year.

But can we get back to the original OP?
Very interesting. Note that the security protocol does not include the use of metal detectors (not that I would expect them in an elementary school). At this point it seems likeliest that this was a disgruntled/wacky parent, though obviously we have much to learn still.
May those poor children and the other victims rest in peace, and I hope the survivors and families find peace and recoveries as speedy as possible.
This...our society has placed such a stigma on mental illness that nobody seeks help anymore and they eventually do sick shit like this
Since 2005. This shit didn't happen till recently.
Some shameless people in here. If you want to discuss gun control go start a thread for it but keep that shit out of here as you feign concern for the victims of this horrific incident.
Not targeted at you directly but be the bigger man, everyone, and let the gun control talk leave to another thread. I mean that for anyone engaging in that discussion.
Since 2005. This shit didn't happen till recently.
What do you think is the driving force behind the acceleration of these incidences?
I think parents are not instilling the value of human life in kids these days. They are raise with no real consequences for their actions.
Columbine was long before that time, and occurred while the AWB was in place. The weapons used today (two semi-automatic pistols) would have been perfectly legal under the AWB (though admittedly the AWB included restrictions on magazine size which MIGHT have helped).
Actually if anything today's tragedy reminds me of the Bath school bombing, in which 38 kids died without a single shot being fired. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bath_School_disaster
At this point it seems likeliest that this was a disgruntled/wacky parent, though obviously we have much to learn still.
I applaud your efforts but look at OP. This thread already started about gun control.
I've read he is a 20 y.o, so... a kid in elementary... if he fathered when he was 15? Doesn't seem likely.
