I think parents are not instilling the value of human life in kids these days. They are raise with no real consequences for their actions.

That's part of it. It goes further than that though. There's a general lack of respect for anyone or anything in American society. The same thing that drives a CEO to lay off half the company to increase his bonus is seen everywhere, it's general selfishness, and it applies to all income levels, classes, races, sexes. It's pointless to compare the US to the EU countries when talking about gun violence and gun laws. Europeans, in my experience, have far more empathy for their fellow man that Americans which I believe is the root issue.

Ugh, fox news has one of the kindergarteners on the air talking. Pretty damn sad that fox news would do that. Last thing that child needs is to be on the air talking about his class mates being murdered.
What else would you expect from Bullshit Mountain?

Stupidity annoys me...I love to point out the flaws in your psychological processes...isn't Chicago the model you'd love to see for "sensible gun laws"?

I think this has a lot to do with it although I also think that if you took out gang violence america would not look nearly as violent in comparison. The other thing is, though, that if you look at homicides per 100,000 we aren't in the top 20 countries.....hell we have fewer than france. Whether or not that has to do with gang violence/strife in urban centers I am not sure.

You allude to needing stricter gun laws if not an outright ban which we know doesn't work (Chicago anyone?)...I've said the laws we have are sensible enough if not too much to begin with restricting lawful use rather than criminals...so you're up tiger, what's "sensible" to you?

They seem to do so in other countries that have gun control.

Your assumptions that criminals obeying the law are laughable and baseless. Gun control is more than making laws, it is very cultural in the United States that making guns and owning guns is part of the American lifestyle.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people and those people are the product of their own choices which are driven by their circumstance. You should blame broken families and high unemployment rates before you blame guns.

There are plenty of unstable people all around us who given the right circumstances will get mad and do something violent in reaction. We need to fix the root of the problem, gun control is like medication for masking the symptoms of a bigger problem.

Any kind of non-gun-related tragedy: This is awful, I feel bad for the people, we should find a way to stop this from happening again! Hell, we spent tons of money tracking bulk purchases of fertilizer, of all things, after Oklahoma City. God only knows how much we spend on security theater at airports.

Gun-related mass murders: How dare you politicize this tragedy! We should all have more guns! Besides, "Good... we need to get that rate higher as it is mostly the riff-raff dieing in those counts." (After all, I'm sure these elementary school kids deserved it?)

Some guy in China stabbed and injured - injured, not killed - 22 people in an elementary school. There's always going to be crazy people. How destructive those crazed rampages are going to be is entirely up to us as a society. Gun control is far from a cure for our nation's murder and violence problems, but even if you can't cure someone with an illness, it's sure nice if you could keep the symptoms from being so horrible.

Unlike the rabid leftists that feel that unions should control politics and the people should be raped by unions.

Such fallacies were shown to be false in Wisconsin (recall) and Michigan RTW).
