I think parents are not instilling the value of human life in kids these days. They are raise with no real consequences for their actions.
That's part of it. It goes further than that though. There's a general lack of respect for anyone or anything in American society. The same thing that drives a CEO to lay off half the company to increase his bonus is seen everywhere, it's general selfishness, and it applies to all income levels, classes, races, sexes. It's pointless to compare the US to the EU countries when talking about gun violence and gun laws. Europeans, in my experience, have far more empathy for their fellow man that Americans which I believe is the root issue.
