Connecting TWO switches

Tried searching couldnt find anything...i just got two new trendent switches 24 port. i want to connect them together. one in one room and another down the hall. do i need a crossover cable to do this. the box says that you dont and the booklet had no information. they are brand new switches. thanks in advance

What are the switches going to be used for?
Some kind of backend? Or for a "home" network?

quick run down. 2 servers hooked to switch one then cable either regular or crossover going down hall to computer lab down the hall to be able to access servers.

if gig, you don't need xo, if 10/100 and it has uplink, you don't need it.

Well if the Switches are just connected to each other:
2 devices of the same type require a crossover cable.

IF you were to go

Router -->(patchcable) switch -->(patchcable) switch that would work too.

But if they are just being used as a backend. Crossover.

that is my experience with all the gig e switches I've worked with.

maybe the high end cisco switches still require xo? I dunno...

If it is auto-midx you can use either a crossover or a straight through.

auto MDIX is built into the spec for gig.

Thx for clearing that up spidey,
I didn't realize that they had a different spec set aside for gig, I knew my switch was MDIX but I didn't know if they all were (I also couldn't remember the term )
