I installed the GPU2 GUI client but it seems to be generating the following error all the time

[22:04:09] - User ID not found locally
[22:04:09] + Requesting User ID from server
[22:04:09] - Couldn't send HTTP request to server
[22:04:09] + Could not connect to Primary Assignment Server for ID
[22:04:09] - Couldn't send HTTP request to server
[22:04:09] + Could not connect to Secondary Assignment Server for ID
[22:04:09]
+ Could not get ID from server. Retrying...

I tried disabling my Vista firewall, DD-WRT security settings and changing my DNS server to openDNS without any success...

Also testing the following links...

http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/
http://assign.stanford.edu:8080/
http://assign2.stanford.edu/
http://171.65.103.98:8080/
http://171.65.103.100/
http://171.65.103.161/
http://171.64.65.64/
http://171.64.122.76

They all gave me an OK signal except for the last one, http://171.64.122.76/, which I got a Page Load Error.

I am behind a NAT firewall running DD-WRT. Anybody got any idea regarding to this issue? I'd really love to get a fix and start the folding on my 3450 =)

Thanks!

I get an error on the last one also. I can;t answer the other questions though. It does sound like your firewall may be a problem.

You may want to check out this thread.

If you are behind a firewall that you have administrative control over, then a solution is likely for someone more knowledgeable than me:

To fold, you need access to the internet and also have administrative access (registry write privileges) to your computer. If not, then there is a "sneakernet option" with a link to instructions in the above link.

cheers!

Playing around the registry keys probably won't help since the program isn't even communicating with the internet. It is hard to believe that firewall plays a role here since port 80 is used to HTTP traffic.

I am guessing that there is a high possibility that my router... which is flashed with DD-WRT, is doing something at the back. Currently I cannot plug my PC directly to the ethernet port because the port had been configured to use sticky mac address, and the router is required to server all my PCs.

This is strange... since most of the links that I'd tested all gave me an OK signal...

Any more ideas? Thanks for the input.

Not sure if the GPU client has it but the regular client does: there is a setting during configuration on whether to use IE settings.

My log shows the following if the client is set to use IE settings:

[18:34:32] - Ask before connecting: No
[18:34:32] - Use IE connection settings: Yes
[18:34:32] - User name: GLeeM (Team 198)

You could try configuring to use to opposite of whatever is set.

If you need directions on how to re-config let me know.

I am running latest build version 6, which if I am not mistaken, have the IE connection setting removed. And no I don't have any proxy settings enabled.

192.168.1.105 171.65.103.98 TCP webcache Accepted
192.168.1.105 171.65.103.98 TCP www Accepted

FYI... from the logs on my router I don't see any incoming connections being dropped... and there are two outgoing connections that are being accepted. Hope that helps for the troubleshooting process!

The WU receiving and sending uses ports 80 and 8080.

I don't know if another port is used for getting UserIDs.
