Pabster,

I have tested close to 20 air coolers so far for our next guide, my head is still spinning as I still have four more to go, but so far only one has not improved upon the stock cooler if that helps any. Are you looking for overclocking or a unit that is quiet? (unlike the GeForce 3 thread from years past, quiet is spelled correctly) Except for a couple of surprises, performance follows price to a certain degree (pun intended) and most of the manufacturer specifications for dBA are very close to stated numbers.

I'm mainly looking for performance, never concerned with noise myself. With all the rigs I've got cranking, noise is the least concern

The main thing that turns me off with these coolers is the mounting mechanisms. That's why I've always preferred Swiftech (certainly not cheap) as their mounting system is as easy as it gets. And it has been standard for several generations of coolers...

What fan do you plan on using for the MCX775? I have this heatsink coming, still undecided which fan to use although they shipped a "recommended" 80mm blow dryer with it.

I'm planning to use one of my trusty Delta FFB0812EHE monsters. Roughly 80cfm or so and rather loud, 50dB+

I'm not sure which fan they ship them with (I always order the bare heatsink) but in the past I've used much weaker fans with good success. I'd like to be able to use a quiet Papst fan on it but that may be a pipe dream. We'll see
