The E6600 is supposed to retail at $316.00 correct? So this is a $41.00 gouge. Not as bad as I thought the gouging would be. Wasn't $316 for E6600 volume pricing for lots of 1,000 or something? I would say $357 for a single chip doesn't sound bad at all.

Side-note: $357 is exactly what the AM2 X2 4000+ (2.0GHz, 2x1MB L2) costs on Newegg right now. This is going to become real attractive come July 24th, I think.

Yeah, prices listed are for the retails to buy at, so it would cost Newegg etc $316 to buy the chip, not you $316, unless you buy direct from Intel in large quantities...
It's a $0 gouge, and a $41 markup, just like any other product you would buy in a store.

I guess it's "normal" considering the timeframe, it's is still quite a decent more expensive then listed price, but the EE price will fall back down to 1050US or so over time. It's just high at the initial launch.

Same goes for just about everything you see in the market. Unless you buy from B-M shops (CompUSA, BestBuy, etc.), don't you always expect to pay less than whatever they list? Unless there is a shortage. I know I do.

Those are OEM chips in quantities above 1000.....So paying ~24 more for retail boxes like mine seem just fine....The shipping at 11.50 is a bit steep....I will have to talk to Tankguys about that....

No, 24.00 is not bad at all. It's great actually considering the performance you will be getting.

Yes, the shipping is insane for a box that weighs under 2 pounds. I shipped a motherboard, CPU, Heatsink/fan and PSU for 12.00 to California from NY USPS Priority. And that was with DC and insurance. So yes, Tankguys are thieving on the shipping a bit.

He is a business so perhaps we are being a bit tough considering he may have to pay a wage to a person packing the orders...so he needs to recoup some handling cost...He says he is making 5 bucks per chip....

Yes but the much cheaper priced E6300 seems in line or better than X2 4400 (forget about the X2 4000) performance. So that might mean that these price cuts coming from AMD must be absolutely remarkable.
