I love debate and as such welcome opposing viewpoints to debate with (because without opposing viewpoints, there is no debate). What I don't welcome are pompous jackasses who put words in peoples' mouths, feign victim complexes, and otherwise make bullshit excuses for why they won't provide a supporting argument for their viewpoint, except to pretend that they are right and superior solely because of their partisan political identity, like that's even an argument.

Don't you love how the chickenshits can never actually support their arguments with anything resembling coherent objective facts, but get pissed when called on it? They think all anyone is ever doing is spouting bullshit because that's all they're doing, but they think their fucked up warped view of reality is more reality than others'.

I disagree. Free speech and voluntary association are 2-way streets, if you will, meaning that the social (non-govt) consequences of a person's speech are in fact someone else's speech. So what is absurd is the use of euphemisms like "cancel culture" and "social media mob mentality" as a backdoor means of silencing free speech.

My reading of what @Starbuck1975 posted was that he didn't agree with the choice to fire her but expressed no wish to restrict the employer from choosing to do so. That is how I feel, and that has absolutely nothing to do with free speech. Ideally, our comments here are part of society working out its norms through speech which is facilitated by the freedom to choose.

Perhaps I misinterpreted his post then. However, my own opinion is that, besides the free speech and voluntary association rights of the 2 parties directly involved in this exchange (employee and employer), there is also the free speech rights of the public at large. And if the employer chooses to listen to public opinion when making their decision, that is their right as well.
And.. it is my experience that derogatory terms like 'cancel culture and social media mob mentality' are usually employed to suppress or belittle public opinion that that person disagrees with.
For the record, I don't engage in 'cancel culture.' I deleted my twitter account a long time ago, and my FB is used solely for communicating with friends and relatives. But if I don't like a business' practices, I don't do business with them. Some people like to call that cancel culture, I call it consumer choice.
