Conservatism

The whole premise of Conservatism is if everyone ran around and did selfish things in their best interests, this would be a great community--a great society, a great place to live.

In Biology, if one cell says 'I am going to do whatever I want to. Screw the rest of the body!'

You know what that's called?

WE CALL THAT CANCER.

CONSERVATISM IS SELFISHNESS, WHICH IS BASICALLY A CANCER UPON SOCIETY.

"The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness."
~~~ John Kenneth Galbraith ~~~
You're right Dave. Definitely not my best stuff.
Matter of fact, I can't even believe I typed that.
Hitler never wrote anything but a book of fiction in jail. Nor was he a scientist or philosopher. Just a failed corporal and right wing huckster/talk radio hate merchant.
But but but, I have been listing to Rush Limbaugh for years, and I am still disappointed in my failure to pass remedial conservatism studies.
Somehow I feel like Snurdly the whipping boy redeemed. And doubly so now that Mittens laid an egg. As Rush is always good for moments of comic relief.
Hey Bill,
Let's talk about cancer. Cancer is what happens when cells get too old, or are defective. Simply put, they become defective in that they reproduce without regards to the host. The cancer cells take energy needed for functioning, and funnel it to rampant growth, to the cancer's need, regardless of all else, including reality.
As a union member, I believe you once knew how to do something, and you may have excelled at it. Is it cancer to be selfish and continuing on in your function, or is it cancerous to consume more and more resources for antiquated processes?
Oh, and so you get it.
Living is a selfish desire.
No, cancer is when one cell latches on to others and leeches off of it. What does that sound more like?
I realize there are limits to my metaphor.
All of the responses to this post have been great. Even the ones that attempted to use my limited metaphor to it's opposite intent.
When the dust settles there are some serious oxymorons that the Republican party must resolve with it's foot soldiers. I don't know how that is going to happen. Given the contempt that the grand old party showed towards it's flock this past year I have a feeling I know where this scenario will again go.
I want to feel sorry for the Republican base but perhaps they are like the girlfriend that just never catches on. And that's the way that they should continue to be treated.
Can you please post like everyone else? It's very annoying on my netbook. Please be considerate to others and not a complete asshat with your annoying posts. Thank you!
Perhaps I souldn't be the one telling you this but...
This is the internet.
You are on a forum.
If you want complete control of your outside environment turn your computer off and just continue to sit in your parents dark basement.
By the way, girl I have read your past posts. You are not that interesting.
Why don't you stick to the best you can do and everything else will work out. Trust me.
The irony of the OP's post is that the Dem's motto since Truman has been "Vote in your self interest".
The problem is they have lived in the CEC for so long they are offended and put out by someone else playing their game. Well done.
This may be out of the scope of this thread but I just read the 2012 Democratic Platform.
I'm pumped-up. REALLY pumped-up but I did not find ANYTHING even remotely attributed to the motto "Vote in your self interest".
I did see a lot of NEW IDEAS. I did see a lot of empathy.
I saw inclusion.
So...
Your concept started out strong. Looked like a good idea but then...
Your idea turned into this GIF.
Sorry...
