As a British person...I don't get it.....:/
*
People say "they only give a fuck about the rich!" or "Cameron's a toff!"*
Er...no.
These are stereotypes, little else. You cannot compare the 1950s to today, get with the programme...
These are other inane/fallacious points are countered below:
*
- Cameron doesn't represent average people like me!
Did Tony Blair? Did Brown? Did Miliband? Did people long ago like Attlee (who most Labour people love for the NHS no less...) or Wilson? If Cameron is bad because he went to Eton/Oxbridge and "doesn't get the real world", then Blair is bad too (worse imho...it's his fault for ISIS....)*
All of the aforementioned PMs and/or Labour party leaders went to uni and/did come from upper class/middle class backgrounds. Brown even has a doctorate. *
I think this argument disguises envy of the rich, which leads me to the next point.
- People hate the rich
Rich people often work hard for their money/position. Even though they rely on others for support, so what? *We're humans, we're social. *Everything we do or have on some level relies on others' support.
It's not the 19th century. Study, have goals, and work hard. *That's all you need other than being a chav on some council estate. Nobody is really preventing you from working hard.
- Their policies are scary!!!
Erm...no, they are not.
The Tory manifesto was VERY similar to the Labour one.
The only major difference was on the EU. And even then, most people do want a referendum.
And if you're a poor chav who believes in outdated stereotypes, having no income tax to pay under 12,000 pounds is a good thing for you. *So much for a party who doesn't care for poor chavs with victim complexes. *
- They want us to leave the EU!
Well...as said, we're a Eurosceptic country. At the least, there should be a referendum, considering we often question if being in the EU is beneficial for us.
- They were the party of Thatcher, I hate them!
OK, that's your right. *But then if you're a Labour person, can people hate your party because Blair was your leader/PM, and attacked a country without evidence of nukes? And which caused ISIS and thousands of deaths since 2003? *
This is a rant/tl;dr, but then somebody needs to tell me how this Tory government is "evil".
Oh, and I forgot the Human Rights Act. Well I doubt many people actually know its contents, and it's not as if pre-2000 we were all slaves with no rights.
