So you instead prefer to back a guy who was a part of Bush's administration for a few years?

Depends on who the guy is and what he did. I try not to paint with a broad brush. If I did I wouldn't be a fan of Colin Powell now would I?

Sounds like your brush extends to religious practices as well. By virtue of being Mormon he must approve of polygamy, hence your reluctance to even do the basic reading up on the man, right? Does his personal view and the official view of his church not mean anything here for some reason? It's like you're saying Beck's music sucks because he's a Scientologist. Well I disagree.

Look, I'm sure most here know I am hardly a fan of religion, Mormonism being no exception. Yet I would still would vote for him in a heartbeat. You want engagement with China? This guy speaks Mandarin fluently, could probably swing better for us at that game than anyone else on that list I'd bet. I think you'd find some of his past election results pretty interesting.

I am still put off over their VP choice of Palin. It was like, "Hey, we need some more tits and winks! Those Go-Daddy commercials sure are popular!".

I want some real, substantive, thought provoking candidates. Smart people who have a plan and are willing to act on it, not pander to whichever base they are speaking in front of. I want some Ross Perot type crazy shit.

I'd have a hard time voting republican this time around. With a presumably republican congress again, voting republican president could open the flood gates for backtracking. I prefer having mismatched executive and legislative branches.

Yeah, I think a lot of people think that way. That 2014 win may have spelled their doom for 2016.

^ Yup. Don't think very many people think too fondly of Repub control between 2001-2007.

We have a good chance of finding the next Ronald Reagan, if we will avoid the pandering to the left, or the middle of previous failed runs.

Stick to your guns, Republicans, and ask for social freedom, and fiscal conservatism.

-John

Reagan for social freedom and fiscal conservatism? really?

Conservatives are strong believers in mythology, particularly wrt to Ronnie. They luvs 'em some revisionist history, that's for sure.

Who will conservaties support? Anybody who's not a Democrat, anybody Faux News & the AFP tells 'em to vote for. If the Repubs nominated Louie Gohmert, they'd be on board.

The guy who thinks homosexuals will poison the cakes of America? Good choice.

I've heard mention that since a gay man has led Apple to record profits, from now on when someone does something really great you tell them, "That was so gay!"

The way the country has swung on this issue, I would assume that any negative words about gays would cost someone the election. Look at how many of them are not saying a thing about it.

Most of these yahoos keep whining about "traditional marriage" that's the code these days.

lol wow

I guess that makes Christie the most athletic of the bunch then?

I really know very little about Cruz and certainly the mainstream media has no interest in making a conservative look anything but stupid and scary, but I can't recall a single Cruz quote that ever struck me as particularly intelligent.

I'm talking about a non-CINO who at least pretends to believe in the US Constitution and is a good debater, can speak extemporaneously with a semi-shot in winning. Or I suppose you also believe you are a better businessman (corporate raider) than Mitt Romney and can outeat Christie.

All that matters anyway is name recognition, relatability and marketing as evidenced by the last several decades, of which Cruz has very little... so please don't kid yourself. Personally I will only vote for a President who signs his name in blood to at least 50% of my list, especially the first one.

01. Repeal Dodd/Frank and replace it with proven legislation in the Glass Steagall Act.
02. Either repeal or renegotiate NAFTA, GATT and CAFTA.
03. Put an end to fascistic Presidential Executive Orders and Memoranda. Only Congress can enact legislation. Repeal any unconstitutional orders starting with the most troublesome.
04. Repeal the Affordable Care Act and encourage health care insurance competition over state lines
05. Eliminate the revolving K-Street door with Congress
06 Prosecute Wall St. precipitants of the 2008 financial collapse
07. Break up a media monopoly where 90% ownership is allowed to six corporations
08. Institute term limits for Congress
09. Confront China on trade relations
10. Pull the US out of the WTO
I like your list, but #8 has been ruled out by SCOTUS and the rest are at least as likely to be pushed by Dems as by Pubbies.

You and those who write such garbage seem to think that every single Republican, Conservative, or non-Obama supporter was against Obama on the citizenship conspiracy side show. You are wrong. Almost everyone universally thought it was a stupid and crazy made-up issue. You aren't calling out a contradiction like you think you are. Instead, you are showing just how brain-washed you were about the opposition's true positions. You were told that they were a bunch of crazies and you bought it hook, line, and sinker because you can't think for yourself and buy what your media tells you about the people they want you to hate. Grow up.

Even after he provided proof 23% of Republicans polled thought he was "definitely/probably" born in another country. Before that it was 43% and oher polls indicate even higher figures. I mean overall 13% of Americans still thought he wasn't after all that. These are not insignificant amounts of the electorate that beloved a totally bullshit story continually whipped up by conservatives which only received the most tepid rebuffs from the candidates because they wanted those mouth breather votes.

FDU Poll: 34% of Republicans think it’s ‘likely’ Obama not a U.S. citizen

http://politickernj.com/2015/01/fdu-poll-34-of-republicans-think-its-likely-obama-not-a-u-s-citizen/

From 2011:

Poll: 45 percent of Republicans think Obama born out of US

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-brief...lity-of-republicans-say-obama-born-outside-us

"A quarter of all Americans incorrectly think President Obama was not born in the United States, according to a new CBS News/ New York Times poll.
Among all Republicans, 45 percent believe he was born in another country, as do 45 percent of Tea Party supporters, the poll shows.

If I ask the right way, I can get more than 23% of Democrats to say that George Bush was born of Hell.

It's a measure of sour grapes and nothing more.

Another PERFECT example of exactly what I said. They want you to think that the people you disagree with are unreasonable so that you will not listen to their attempts to reason WITH YOU.

<sigh> People who believe that Obama is not an American citizen *are* unreasonable. And in spite of your protestations the facts show that there are still a hell of a lot of Republicans (and even a few who aren't) who still believe that twaddle. Deal with it.

I guess if you don't like what the polls reflect you're free to interpret it in a way that is comfortable for you. The fact remains that roughly half of Republicans polled thought this was real at one time and a sizable minority still persisted in that belief after it was disproved.

And those people are NOT as numerous as you are being led to believe. The polls do not "show" what you say. They show a lot of sour grapes where people will answer that way just to be negative. Get it through your head: A number is not a fact. It's a tool that can often be used to manipulate. Context matters.

"Fact?!" Giving it a number does not make it a fact. It's like you are blissfully unaware of what "sour grapes" means in this context: it means they will answer that way simply to be negative. If I ask Liberal Democrats "is George Bush a monkey?" I would get a sizable number of people saying "yes" because of CONTEXT soliciting negativity. Does it make it a "fact" that this number of people actually "thought at one time" that Bush was really a monkey?

They "still persisted" in their negativity, not their "belief." Very few ever believed the conspiracy theory in the first place and fewer still believed it after it was proven false. You clearly want to go on ridiculing them while ignoring reality, so be my guest and go ahead. Just know that I nailed it when I said what your ilk were doing earlier.
