I'm not sure any more about which mouse to buy for my new gaming computer, I play FPS games so I need a STEADY mouse...
No dirty mouse balls, dieing batteries, mouse lag, ect..

I was originaly thinking of this one here

Mouse: Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 1000 (Black Pearl)
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications...item-details.asp?EdpNo=2224301&CatId=0
$9.99

But people told me to get something better so now I'm looking at this one
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826153108

But I'm not realy sure if it's worth spending another $20 just for the mouse

I have one. It was worth it when I bought mine for $52. Now, the improved model costs about the same as I paid for my DiamondBack one. It takes about a week or two to adjust to the new sensitivity, but after that it'll be your best friend. The Copperhead is so durable you may not ever need to buy another mouse again...
edit: The lights you see in the pictures are cosmetic only... It is like an optical mouse, but it uses a frequency of light in the ultraviolet range which is not even visible (which you're not supposed to look at either), so it is more sensitive. I won't explain why, because I don't wanna sound like too much of a geek It has to do with the Electromagnetic Spectrum. If you know what that is then you understand what I mean.

huh? The lights are cosmetic, i.e. not necessary to the functioning of the mouse and are just for pretty show... As in the "cosmetic" isle in the grocery store? Yes, you see it, but the light you see is not the one that the mouse uses to track the movement. Kinda cool, not necessarily in the "need to know" category unless you're one that feels a need to impress friends with your knowledge of facts like I apparently do. Well, at least my friends at Anandtech that might appreciate my nerdiness

btw, I've never had a pad for mine, and my feet have never worn out, and I've had mine for a few months... How long have you had your's, xeno?

An MX518 is a great choice, and a pretty close toss-up between that and the razor.

I use a razer mouse, copperhead. Sweet mouse.
I tried the logitech gaming mice but the left click button got real funky on me after a couple of days on 2 of them, one right after the other. $60 mice no less.
I decided on razer and haven't looked back. No more logitech for me.

I don't want a mouse with 8 buttons

3 buttons is all I need, I use my keyboard for everything else

Any other good 3 button gaming mouses out there? or should I just order this one now

I hear ya. On my razer mouse I have to say they fudged up by putting 2 buttons on the right side that are pretty much useless
I dont know of any gaming mice with 3 buttons though. A couple of those buttons are used for sensitivity adjustments and dont get in the way and are really handy. I got used to them quickly and easily.
The fatality mouse might have the fewest buttons on a gaming mouse if I remember right.
But thats a creative product, and I only trust thier soundcards, not thier other hardware.

Well Ive been hardcore into FPS's for over a year now and the best mouse I have owned to date is a MS Inteli mouse 1.1. Another question you need to answer for us is are you a high sensitivity gamer or low? If you're a high sens user you will need to go with a razer. I think some of the newer models go up to 2000dpi (dont quote me on that) but 1600 is plenty and their interface for customizing your sensitivity is simple to use and very well done. For low sensitivity users Logitech and MS make good mouses. Beware i dont know how much you play but I have worn out the left clicks on a razer and a mx518(in under 6months). The inteli mouse seems to be holding up ok and im approaching the 5month mark.

Hope i helped

The Logitech G5 Laser Mouse is by far the one to rule them all.
No other mouse are necessary once you have the Logitech G5 Laser Mouse.

No, the inteli mouse has 2 buttons on the left and right side for various uses. The one I got is the one you liked from that reseller but mine was standard ms white not black

Edit: http://www.apitcomp.ru/shop/item16149 mines like that but white

By far? hardly.
Pluses and minuses to both obviously.

Opions are very subjective. Like I said, I tossed the other logitech gaming mice to the side when I got the copperhead, and I've had it since it first came out.
The left click buttons wore out too quick

Beware that MS f*cks everyone over and only allows that mouse to be purchased with some other hardware. Lucky for you is that you can by some cheap cable for 1.99 and then theyll allow you to buy one. Seeing its such a good mouse and hard to find i would buy multiple ones on the same order just incase.

Hope I helped.

Yeah, that is the correct number for the Copperhead.

I had an intellimouse explorer 3.0 (optical mouse) before this, and this is way better/more sensitive. If you're trying to choose between that logitech mx518 and the razer Diamondback then your next consideration is shape and size. Which one most suits your preferences? The main reason I got rid of my microsoft mouse was the big shape and I hate the feel of it in my hand and the bulkiness (not the weight), then I heard of Razer and I've been happy ever since ( this mouse is definitely light weight. some ppl like the heaviness of the logitechs... I've never had a logitech so, I don't really know if that is true, though )... The Logitech is closer in size to the Microsoft mouse I used to use, so I wouldn't like it, but like I said, personal preferences reign when it comes to mouse purchases.

Edit: If you want... I can buy a Razer Copperhead (I've always wanted to try that one that has the titaniam feet for the extra tactile feel it might provide during quick movements) and sell you my old Diamondback for a discount pm me if you're interested

You're right when it comes down to personal preference and whether the size and shape appeal to you or not. I have a rather large hand and I even found some of the logitech mouse to be fairly small for me. But one thing we are over looking is whether or not he is a high sensitivity user or not. If you're a low sens user there is no reason for forking out extra money for the high dpi ratings. A simple MS mouse that suits your button/appeal needs will suffice. If you are a high sens user you really would want to look into the high dpi mouses for better sensitivity customization and tracking purposes.
