The company I work for is considering backing up their Windows SBS 2011 system and file server with a NAS or an eSATA system. We only have about 1TB of files on the server plus we would like to backup the server in case of a full crash.
I was looking into a Netgear ReadyNAS diskless system with a 4-bay capable of a RAID 5 and enough storage to backup a few other key computers on the network.
We would also have an external HDD that would backup the NAS once a week and would be taken off site in case of a Catastrophic event at work. Before I worked here, this place burned to the ground in 2005 and they lost everything.
SBS Backup Wizard is included with SBS 2011 (basically Server 2008 R2 with extras I believe), which is likely what I would use to backup the server and the files. I also read about Acronis Backup & Recovery 11.5 Advanced Server SBS Edition which would allow recovery to dis-similar hard drive.
Although I run the network here at work, I wear multiple hats at this small business and I am not allocated very much time to keep up with every little IT issue, so the less time I have to touch any of this the better. A set it and forget it solution would be the best for me at the moment. Any suggestions?
