I'm having a major problem with my PC, its been like this for 3 months, since I built it, but I've just been avoiding playing 3d games on it (the main reason it was built) but since vacation is coming up and I won't need it for school I decided it was finally time to do something about it.
Every 3d game I play freezes about 5 minutes into it. (sound usually loops) It will unfreeze a couple of times and then eventually it will freeze again and then I will just need to restart.
My PC:
Core 2 Duo E6400 (no overclock)
Gigabyte DS3 w/ latest BIOS
2GB Corsair dual channel 800MHz
EVGA 7600GT (no overclock)
Antec Smart Power 2.0 500 watt (19A rating on 12v)
DVD-RW drive
Seagate SATA 7200.10 320GB
using built in sound.
I have the most recenet DirectX and Nvidia drivers.
I have tried reinstalling Windows, way underclocking my card. all different types of games.
The computer never has a problem outside of 3d apps.
I have read topics of people having the same problem with this card.
Thinking about swapping the 7600GT for a 8600GTS. Rather than RMA the 7600GT, then being stuck with no computer for weeks. Is this a decent upgrade for $190 anyway?
