Or you could be being duped by consumer reports now. Why would you blindly believe consumer reports more then you would sharper image? It is possible they are wrong.
Sharper Image stands to profit off their lie. Consumer reports only stands to ruin their reputation by lying.

I hardly call my tv an "air purifier" though.
?It is astonishing that Consumers Union would continue its misguided efforts to attack the judgment and experience of millions of Americans who are satisfied with the performance of the Ionic Breeze products,?

What an arrogant a$$hole.
Just because the damn thing has sold based on the agregious lapse in judgment and experience by the American Public doesn't mean its a good product.

You're right, The actual concept behind "electrostatic propulsion" is extremely cheap, just two grids of wire +/-, a tranformer @ 15,000Volts... about $5.
dirtboy, you have an emotional attachment since you spent $350 ... you're the same type who thinks all the stuff you buy is the best....plenty like that in General HW I just ignore them.

It's not so mcuh a lie as it is overinflated truth that excludes any mention of a carcinegon....

I really like my Ionic Breeze's despite what everyone else says. I don't need perfectly clean air and I don't want some large noisy object in my room humming away. It does clean dirt out of the air and while not as much as other units, it does a fine job in the rooms I use it in.
No it doesn't clean any significant amount of dirt from the air, and in addition it releases ozone. Didn't you read the article? Oh well, cognitive dissonance. You'll keep telling yourself that it does the job fine because you already wasted your money on it.
Tell me why their is dirt all over the blades?
I read the articles before I bought mine and I bought it anyways. I ended up buying two because I liked the first one so much. My dad, a Consumer Report's loyalist, made fun of me and bought their top rated purifier. Before it arrived, he borrowed my Ionic Breeze.
Let's just say his high dollar purifier isn't even being used right now and I've never got my IB back. He won't give it up.
Maybe you should try each of them before blindly following a review, and then form an opinion.

Nope. I spent $80 and I've owned them for 2 years and I can see them work. More than you can say. I am happy with the way they work. I never said they are the best, I said I believe they work and I am happy with them.
You folks blindly follow reviews and then act like you know something about them. Clearly, you're just a sheep to whatever review you are partial to.
How else are you supposed to form an opinion on something without buying it? Would you buy a $3000 HDTV based on nothing but an ad from the company who makes the TV?You folks blindly follow reviews and then act like you know something about them. Clearly, you're just a sheep to whatever review you are partial to.
Um, so do you actually know how it works?.....Originally posted by: dirtboy

I'm sorry, but the cold-shoulder to science approach won't work on a lot of people here.
I'm not trying to make you out to be an idiot or jsut plain ignorant, but you are makign it pretty hard for me.
Basically Sharper Image has championed their technology, saying that it is better than all others, and that is simply not true. They have spent exorbitant amounts on publicity, when in fact their product is not as effective as they say it is, and might even cause harm. The amounts of Ozonereleased could kill a man, but they could sure do harm to a cripple.
Do you even know who UL is?! Check every damn product in your house and see if it has a nice "UL" Stamped in it. UL specifications were used for their test. You really can't get more scientific in consumer reporting than that.
Ok, I'm going to have to file you into the idiot category.Originally posted by: dirtboy

Look, you're missing the point.
I never said SI's techonology was the BEST for air purification. It was stated in this thread that these products don't work period.
All I've said is that they do work. I own two of them and I've used them against other air purifiers. I never said once that they purify more are or that they are better than others.
I said I believe they work through my own experience owning them.
You can call me a sheep, uneducated consumer and laugh at me all you want. I don't care. All I know, is that I've used them and I've used other ones, whicn is more that you or any other the other people posting in this thread can say.
I read the reviews before I bought it. I knew about the ozone before I bought it. I still like them to this day and I can tell a difference between the two rooms that I spend most of the time in -- the one with the IB in it, the air appears cleaner and the items in the room accumulate dust at a significantly slower rate than the other. Say what you want, but at least I'm relating my first hand experience, which is worth quite a bit from someone who is just repeating what they read.
