Wrong. All dimensional specifications are within a range. Some companies may specify a tighter range than others, but it's simply not possible to mass produce anything with zero tolerance.Originally posted by: The Boss

What about performance? HP? Torque? Skidpad? Are there any fun people at CR at all?
You don't deserve to drive if you don't know how much HP you car has.
Not my point. My point is that they don't consider these factors when they put the label, "Best Car" on something. They're primarily concerned with reliability and durability, not entertainment factor, which is a big point that they're missing.
EDIT: btw, I know exactly how much HP and torque my car produces. I'd be willing to bet that a very large number of people don't know how much HP their car produces. Actually, I'd be willing to bet that a vast number of people don't even know the engine layout in their car (I4? V6? I6? V8?) You want all these people to stop driving???
Wait...actually, that's a pretty good idea...

The thing about Consumer Reports is, they really are very good in terms of predicting reliability, durability, and generally how well a car will hold up. What they don't seem to get is that there is more to a car than just reliability. Yeah, a I4 Camry is really reliable and will get you from point A to point B daily without problems. But an I4 Camry might possibly be the single most boring car ever to exist on this planet. It's slow, soft, and generally completely uninteresting when it comes to driving fun.

The exception had been Ford's small-sized Focus sedan, but the magazine announced Sunday night that it was dropping the Focus because of a poor crash test result in an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety side impact crash test. (For more on the results of those tests, announced Sunday, click here.)
Consumer Reports said Sunday night that those considering the Focus might want to look at the Toyota Corolla with optional side airbags instead.
