What brand do you wear? A lot of them are TERRIBLE at letting oxygen into your eyes which is what causes them to dry out. You can play the rewetting game or you can try another brand.

Check out O2 Optics, they're a fairly new contact but they were tested to let in the same amount of oxygen as not wearing them. I wear them for 2 weeks and toss them, only taking them out after the first week for one night and then putting them back in the next morning. I could NEVER sleep in my old contacts (acuvue2) or my eye would be gasping for its last breath.

I usually just rewet them once in the morning when I get up and I'm good to go for 24hours

Use a multi-purpose and you'll be dandy... I've always worn contacts over my glasses, actually got my contacts first.

If it takes 6 hours to neutralize, it was a hydrogen peroxide solution. If he was at the office then the nurse really screwed up because the new contacts come in blister packs in basic saline, not the peroxide stuff.

Meh, I must have the wort eyes on the planet. I sleep in mine - if I wake up, and they feel crusty yet I can't find my eye drops, I just squirt my 6 hour solution into my eye and be done with it

Same here, my friend, and that's why I'm wearing glasses right now. I have contacts, but I can't justify putting glasses on and off constantly just to sit here at a computer to do work or whatever. I don't know if something like reading glasses are an option, but I mean... I got contacts for getting rid of the hassle of glasses, not adding another hassle.

I'm in front of a computer screen all day for work and I wear contacts.. both of them are made for astigmatism. You just need to find the right lenses.

I think I'll have to try out that hydrogen peroxide cleaner. Sounds like it could make a noticeable difference.

Due to me currently being on vacation I can't check, but I *think* I have Accuve2 Oasis (if that exists).

My contacts are also not as sharp as my glasses. I have an astigmatism, and had never considered that being the problem. I just thought the magnification of the contacts was too weak.

I'm moving in a month but once I get to the new location I'll have to find an eye doc. Maybe he'll have some super duper oxygen-flowing self-wetting astigmatism contacts.

Bah, then I'd have to pay more because some optometrist decided not to ask me if I work with computers because they knew I had astigmatism.

Anyone here have good recommendations for contacts for astigmatisms?

I've tried tons of crap on the market and they all irritated the hell out of my eyes - I should punch myself for going to Lenscrafters for 2nd rate assistance. They suck bad!

I've tried O2 Optix, Night & Day, acuvue 2, Bausch and Lamb, etc.

My problem is that my eyes will either feel very dry or they'll get blurry and I have to take the contats out or keep wetting them 10-12 times a day or more. It was just too much irritation to bother. I could see best w/ contacts outside in bright daylight.. car headlights at night gave off a crazy glare. I'm at a computer 8-10 hours a day and it just wasn't cutting it. I could not focus properly at all. Rx was correct, contacts were not! Please someone suggest something good for astigmatisms so I can try again.

Odd. I've had two different Eye Doc's tell me that I'm pretty much hosed when it comes to sharpness using contacts. They work fine for recreational activities but I can't do them for working at the PC all day. Neither of them suggested a contact intended for astigmas.

I used Acuvue Toric lenses before, now I use O2 Optix Toric lenses... they're very popular with people like us.

The way they work is they have a little notch on the top and bottom of the lense, when you blink, it sets it back in place. I'm on a computer like 12 hours or more a day sometimes and I never have a problem with blurriness at all.

Ask your eye doc for Toric lenses... they're amazing.

I use cleaning solution in my eye all the time. It's just a matter of if it gets foamy or not.

Get some no-rub solution from Alcon. Works really well. You're going to have red eyes for the first couple of weeks. If you get past that, and the pain of putting them in/taking them out, you're gold.

Yes, toric lenses. I couldn't remember. My wife likes them a lot, they work around the astigmatism problem quite handily.

Well, my eye feels much better today, still pretty blood shot though.

I got a question, how do you tell if the lense is backwards in your eye?

They usually won't fit very well and will literally be falling off/sliding around every time you blink or move your eye.

Otherwise, check the 123 or abc every time you put it on.

Toric lenses are for ppl with astigmatisms. (but kinda expensive)
Acuvue Oasys is the newest contact lens from J&J and has good O2 permeability compared to older ones.
Dry eyes can result from many things, mention it to your doc and get it checked out next visit. I personally had some glands clogged in my eye that made mine dry up quick, and been working on fixing it. Don't always blame the lens.
My doc personally recommends ProClear lenses for "dry eyed" people.

Eventually I could just tell. But the only way to really know is take it out and look at it. When the lens is inside out, it loses its nice curvature and bends kinda weird. Play around with it and you will see.

For me it feels really uncomfortable. Sort of like having dust in your eyes.
