^^ If you want to pass it forward, if any of your DDR2 is DDR2-800, you could send a stick my way to finish off my build on that front. (The original Dell RAM will almost certainly be 533, though.) But only if it would leave your machine with at least 2GB. (If you don't have the 4th 512MB stick anymore and the only 800MHz is the big stick, just leave it as-is. 3x512MB for that machine would be a little limiting at this point, and I wouldn't want to see it passed on like that.)

Let the coattail mooching commence!

You know I passed on the Haswell, with the very next post being Yamamoto's? Not much of a mooch to ask if one of his $5 sticks of DDR2 fits my needs, especially given that he was sitting on more sticks than slots. It's not like, say, someone with an i7 3930K in a P9X79 with 64GB of RAM putting in for all five packages or nothin'.

Alas, he had no -800.

^^ I'm not the one with the 3930k ITT.

I do realize this, was hoping this fact would register on the sarcasm meter.

Is there a sarcasm tag? [sarcasm] xxx [/sarcasm]

Still...GIVE ME FREE!

Off topic, is there any good free program that can easily make an exact copy of a boot-able OS drive?

I didn't make the contest rules, but regardless I entered to give it to my mom. There's a HUGE difference in entering a contest and being a mooch. I can tell you cannot see said difference, thus you must be a mooch.

I am here to deliver!

Sorry if you can't see the pictures, they're hosted on facebook

What could this possibly be?

Oh my! An i5 4430, MSI B85M-P33 motherboard, AND 1 stick of 4gb RAM + 1 stick of 2gb RAM!

Upstairs, setting it up on a piece of wood for now, setting what it looks like

Slightly blurry, but those damn pushpins! Now I know why y'all hate them.

All together for now, I'm just seeing what it looks like, going to buy a nice case, SSD, and Windows for this baby and retired Old Betsy.

Thanks OP for the contest! I'll post more after I buy the case

Lookin' good.

Though, I've read you shouldn't put motherboards on top of static bags since the outsides of them act differently than the inside. Or, should I say, the outside can retain part of a charge. Or something.

I would just PM him

That's what I just did, although I had some misgivings about it. I just don't want to pester anyone, especially someone who was kind enough to do something out of the goodness of their heart. A "gift horse" and all...

---------------------

*edit* Now that IS strange... I cannot see the email I sent to nanaki333 this morning in my "Sent" folder.... Are we sure that the PM system works as it should?

Anyone?

I think that some of the PM options have changed over the years, while the forums have gone through several iterations. More than likely, some options need to be reviewed and rechecked by each individual user, otherwise the messages might be going into an electronic limbo....

omg omg omg

How can a simple, little box contain so much wonder and excitement?

You know a piece of technology is good when Tony Stark wants to add it to his Iron Man armor.

I'll have to do some before and afters with it. The reviews I've read of this look really good. Thank you again to nanaki333 and esquared and any other unsung heroes behind the scenes.

Count me in! It's heartwarming to see users' generosity, too.
Any prize will do for me, so entering all 5!
Entries:

1. I'd replace my current FX-6300 and ASRock 990FX Extreme3, the latter of which is currently giving me a lot of headaches. Seems like this Haswell CPU runs great compared to high-end AMDs.

2. Since I already have a 7950, I'd like to give this to my older brother seeing as he's currently running a 550 Ti

3. Same reason as #2

4. Would love to get some Crucial Ballistix Sport Memory, as my current memory (same brand and type) isn't working.

5. SSDs. Is there any more to say? Uber fast startups!
