I would like to enter for any of the above. Would plan to replace my daughters aging early core 2 setup with old 1000 series amd gpu that has trouble running even lower end learning games she likes to play.

Thanks for consideration! Great to see these giveaways on a regular basis here at AT

This thread gives me faith that Anandtech may have hope still.

I could use any of it, but I'd like to enter for #2 or #3 since the 6850 I had decided the fan running wasn't necessary anymore. I emailed XFX support and they said they didn't have any of the compatible fans left. I ran a case fan on it after the built in fan stopped working, but I guess it wasn't enough.
I can't play a damn thing on integrated graphics!

Wow, this is quite a surprising thread!

Having recently immigrated (/moved) to America I could not bring my computer from back home in Europe with me and thus gave it to my brother who could do with the upgrade. Now I am here, trying to build a life with my wife (yay!) and a computer in the near to distant future! The whole process took up a lot of finances, so these things would help me tremendously to start off, the 1st package most of all (or the 4th) but otherwise the graphics cards would be a great step-up too! The SSD is not a necessity for me, though I might use it for my father-in-law's computer to surprise him with an even more 'lightning-fast computer' (I build the one that he has now, budget-sponsored by his wife)

To summarize; thank you so much for this chance and incredible generosity! I would -really- like to definitely enter for the first four prizes most of all.

Greetings nanaki333,

Thank you for graciously holding this give away for all the forum members.

I would like to sign up for the following prize packages.

Package 1: Corei5+mobo. I was planning on building a budget gaming rig this summer, and what better time to replace my aging core 2 duo system than with the recent release of haswell?

Package 2
A Radeon 7770 would be nice low power card to use in my current i3 dell desktop to replace the intel hd graphics to handle basic graphical tasks and some low end games.

Package 3
A 650ti would be nice low power card to use in my current i3 dell desktop to replace the intel hd graphics for basic games and graphical needs.

Package 4
This celeron+mobo+memory combo would be a perfect base for a rig I would build for my dad so he can replace his aging Pentium 4 desktop.

This is awesome.

The ones I'm interested in:

1. My sister wants me to build her a machine, she's paying for it but doesnt make much money, this combo would be amazing for her build
2. My parents machine could really use an upgrade
3. This GPU would be great for the machine I'm building for my sister
4. Would turn this into a file/backup server for the family, they constantly break their school notebooks and have to get new ones, losing valuable data everytime.

1) I would be interested in number 1, number 4, or number 5.
2) To donate to a friend who is trying to start up a his own recording studio and could badly use some newer hardware to replace his old Prescott based P4's.

I would be interested in Package #2, money is tight right now since I have been on temporary disability for last few months. I would like a more power efficient video card that runs cooler than my current one. Not have to worry about my system doing weird things when it has been running a little to long running a game.

Thank you for this fantastic opportunity.

I would gladly help you part ways with:
#4 - Intel Pentium G2020 LGA1155 + 4GB DDR3 + ASRock H61M-DGS Motherboard

My old desktop's Mobo finally died. It has an Athlon X2 @ 2.6 GHz, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, and an old GeForce 6800 with 256mb of GDDR3 memory!

So obviously #4 is a great HTPC upgrade and I would use it!

Wow !
These kind of contests are awesome Though I'm unlikely to win anything, it does make going to AnandTech something to be excited with instead of routine.

I pick option : 1. Intel Haswell i5-4430 LGA1150 CPU + MSI B85M-P33 motherboard

Right now my Phenom II 955 is still chugging along but there is no denying that single threaded apps like Firefox is becoming a bit too much burden for it at times. Haswell will also enable me to resume playing BF3 and Starcraft 2 which are often too stutter-y for me to play.

Option 5:
Never had an SSD. I bought one for my friend and tested it for an hour before installing it in his laptop and by golly it was the best upgrade ever. Unfortunately SSD price has been holding or even increasing so I still cant afford one for myself. This would provide a great boost for my most often used softwares.

#5. That SSD would just cap off my build to giddy perfection. (I have rather competent franken-rig.)

I'd use it as a drive reserved for programs that can really use the extra speed. (Don't need a boot drive as I already boot in under 15 seconds off a 6 year old WD800JD, but GIMP could use some help, and NWN2's module unpacking trashes even a short-stroked, 0% fragmented hard drive.)

While three of the four others prizes would be upgrades over my X4 945 and 6770, they wouldn't make anywhere near the difference as that little SSD to my personal computing experience, so I'll pass on the chance and hopefully watch them go to someone who really needs them.

I would like a more power efficient video card that runs cooler than my current one. Not have to worry about my system doing weird things when it has been running a little to long running a game.

Your 6770 is passively cooled. You probably just need another case fan to get rid of the heat buildup in your case. (You're probably running negative pressure, right? [more exhaust fans than intake?] You should try running positive pressure with a couple of the PCI backplates open so you get airflow past the heat sink and out of the case.)

1 or 4 would be amazing.

Story time.
Short version: High schooler, very old computer, upgraded using free parts, barely chugging along.

Long version (if you care to read it): I currently have a Dell Dimension E520. It came with a Pendium D 820 (90nm) and had 2x512mb RAM. I thought it was the greatest PC ever, since it was my first PC. Here I am, 7 years later. It has gone through some upgrades with donations from friends on the forums and school friends. This computer had gone from a PD820 to a E2140 to a E4300, the deal for the Q6600 fell through so I'm still on the E4300. I went from 2x512mb RAM to 4x512mb RAM and now I currently have 1x2gb + 3x512mb for a total for 3.5gb of ram, which is way better than what I had originally. I'm using the same 7 year old hdd for my windows, its chugging along just fine. Oh, yes, my GPU. It went from no GPU to a x1500 (or something like that) to a 9800gt, I do have a 660ti I'm trying to mod into my case (case is a Dell OEM, motherboard is BTX and the cooler is the huge Dell OEM one so I'm having trouble with it). I just really want either 1 or 4 so I can finally put her to rest and save some electricity and maybe get more fire power.

This is awesome, thanks!

1. I'd like to enter for all of them.
2. The reason I'd like any of them is because it would be going to my out of date htpc setup. I built the htpc in 2008 and haven't upgraded it in any way. I have driver issues and some system instability that I think could be easily fixed with newer equipment.

Cool giveaway.

1) I will name him George, and I will hug him and pet him and squeeze him...
and I'd have him replace a lowly PC which would then be put on give-to-relative duty.

2+3) Replace an old card literally held together with duct tape.

4) Possibly replace the PC in #1, or definitely replace a different 7-year-old PC that's developed some... problems.

5) Brag incessantly.

Edit: I hope and assume the winner for each prize is chosen separately and if one person wins more than once he can choose the prize, (instead of being eliminated from the other prizes). Because not only might that be a dagger through the heart if someone could use things but has a really high preference for one thing that he got knocked out of, but other reasons might be involved. For instance, I've been thinking about it, and I could certainly replace my MacGyvered video card that is loud and overheats, but it's in a PC I want to replace, and if I win a PC package, onboard graphics would be bearable (I think), so then I wouldn't need a video card.

Btw, before this thread, I hadn't really thought about an SSD or cache drive, but the more I think about it, the more I think it might help with certain time-sensitive things I do, (no, not playing video games). So if you received that drive as some kind of promotional item to promote SSD and cache drives, it worked.

Thanks for nice surprising thread:

I would like to use:

Either #2 or #3 graphics, my current card is working but it has something with memory or ports where my screen begins to annoyingly flicker when I open and quit playing videos, I was not able to troubleshoot the problem, so would be nice to get replacement.
#5 I'm looking to replace the magnetic drive in my laptop for SSD, so it can be lighter, have longer battery life and work faster, it just needs to hold the OS as I only do web browsing on it. The magnetic drive will be moved to my backup testing rig, which has now another laptop drive but it is so slow that it needs to be replaced.

Thank you for any of this

Note, I am from Europe, but I will cover the customs and shipping if I win anything, Thanks again

I'd like to enter for combo #1 and combo #4.

Either one would be used to replace my current everyday rig which is 7-years old and includes such oldies as:

an AMD Athlon 64 3700+
an ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 mobo
2GB G.Skill DDR RAM
an XFX 7600GT PCI-E card

So either of those combos would be a nice upgrade for me.

And by the way...combo #4 is mislabeled according to the picture...the heading says an Intel Pentium G2020 LGA1155 CPU while the picture shows an Intel Celeron G1610 LGA1155 CPU...just a friendly head's up.

Hello, nanaki333. While I don't necessarily need it, I would not mind winning the prize .

I would be happy if I got

1. Intel Haswell i5-4430 LGA1150 CPU + MSI B85M-P33 motherboard

or

4. Intel Pentium G2020 LGA1155 + 4GB DDR3 + ASRock H61M-DGS Motherboard

I would probably give my current machine - AMD Athlon X4 635 - to my family and make a new system for myself. The above combinations would be great since they'll last a while and provide years of solid performance. I don't game much so any of the above combinations would last me for years.

Thank you very much for that. Very nice of you.

I live in Europe and can pay for shipment expenses. So in case you change your mind:

4. Intel Pentium G2020 LGA1155 + 4GB DDR3 + ASRock H61M-DGS

I would love to replace my G860 in a B75 with G2020 so I have all the ingredients (Ivy CPU, B75 and HD7790) for PCI 3 to sate my OCD.
Then I'd use the G860 + 4GB DDR3 + ASRock H61M-DGS
to build a new lite-gaming PC for my girlfriend.

Like to enter for all 5 prizes. I'll likely use whatever I may win if I am so lucky to build my sister a computer. She has no PC currently and she and her fiance just purchased their first home. I have been thinking of things I can get for them, but they really have everything one might buy as a housewarming gift. Thought getting them setup with a PC at the house would be cool. I know they need one, they mentioned it a couple times. Anything that can be used in the new system would be great.

So enter me please.
