I tried a set of Continental DW (not DWS), I was quite unhappy with them. The worst part was the absolute lack of wet traction. I put about 500 miles on them before taking advantage of America's Tire's satisfaction guarantee & swapping them out for PS2s. Yes the PS2s only lasted me 12,000 miles but weighing a $60/month tire habit vs hating my car I'll take the PS2s any day (at least until the super sports are available in my size).

Viper GTS

I liked my DWSs on my Sky prior to it being totaled. The grip in the wet was outstanding considering the amount of torque I was putting out. I haven't tried the DWs though.

18" wheels are probably significantly heavier than 16" as well.

Heh I completely missed that, that's probably it.

btw here is a picture of my tire, the S is going away, also I am not amused at the extra plastic attached to my tires on the edges, from when they molded it, you can see what I am talking about at the bottom of the pic. Anyone know how to get rid of that? I was thinking about a lighter to burn it down, but idk.

All my tires look like this, all have same ware, tire is pretty much the same wear so hopefully Ill get the warranty if they go before 50k, I hear Conti is very strict on what makes it.

About 4K into a set in 235/45/17 -

I had the predecessor ExtremeContacts on my previous car and they held up well.

Talked my buddy with a A4 running 235/40/18's into them as well.

So far they are quiet and smooth!

I put a set of 255s on the m3, terrible. DSC light would come on every on ramp and hard turn. Good thing I got a new set of SSRs soon after, those things are nowhere near extreme anything in the summer.

255 DWS to 275 Potenza RE is a huuuuge improvement.

Mine were exactly the same. My DSC was going haywire all the time. I had to put 200 miles on them for the glaze to completely burn off and now I got lots of traction.

Kinda thread necro but I wanted to say that I'm finally having my rears replaced this Saturday. They lasted exactly 32,558 miles and they are right at the wear bars in the center but has a little more tread around the sides.

I am very happy I got more than 10k miles out of these for my rears. I'm replacing with an identical set.

Considering I used to replace my rears every 10k miles, I literally saved around $1000!!!

Nice thread necro. I posted a year and half-ago about my Conti's. I was at 20K miles at the time and already had one replaced under warranty because of a bulge. Now I'm at 55K miles. They definitely need to be replaced but I'm being cheap and lazy. Another tire developed a bulge a couple months ago, but I haven't replaced it.

So 55K miles in, they are wearing fairly well. I still have a bit of life before I hit the "dry only" wear bar. In that time I've had two broken belts. One replaced under warranty. The other, I'm living with until it's time to replace the set.

I'm about 20K miles into my Contie DWS's. Bought them last August. I have them in 205/50R16's on a Focus. I had one replaced about a month ago because of a bulge in the sidewall. I must have hit a pothole and broke a belt.

They are still quiet and ride smooth, but I can tell I'm not getting 50K miles out of them. There is a huge difference in tread between the one that was just replaced and the others. I hope I can make it through one more winter.

Not too surprised about the bulge, the only flaw on these were the softer sidewalls. But the biggest question is will you buy again or try something else.
