Converting SECC to SECC2

Is it possible to do this? And on the HSF, is the mosting pins the same on SECC and SECC2? they seem to be just glancing at them.

i dont think its the possible.

SECC has a heatplate sandwiched between the HSF and CPU/PCB
SECC2 doesnt.

I believe the way the mounting pins are arranged are different for the SECC2 HSF and SECC Heatplate, so you couldnt really change them..


a secc and secc2 HSF are mounted differently and will not work, at least not without removing the heatlate, and some mod to attach it :-/

I have a SECC p2 that i want to take the hsf off of and put it on a SECC2. the pins seem to be in the same arrangement but fastened in different ways. The heat sink fan is pop-rivited to the proc. I could probably get the HSF off (carefully drilling out the rivits) but then I would have no way of reattaching a different HSF to it, unless there is some other way to get the HSF off that I dont know about.

Alright man, I had to dig into my archives for this one, but what you basically do is remove the SECC casing and mount the heatsink without the backplate. Once you get that SECC casing off (without damaging the PCB), it's all smooth slailing from then on.

Here is a step-by-step for you on how to mount the heatsink without the backplate.
