This suffers from the same problem a lot of vehicles do that have high performance trims. The price point to get all the extra performance related changes often leaves the interior looking questionable at the final price point. Manufacturers practically never offer a supplemental interior material option for this trim model so it's nearly always the same scenario. I have the same issue with my recent car purchase. Doug should know this this but it's just a talking point for him to get some length in his review. Considering how lite they are on any real information about the vehicle compared to something like SavageGeese or Throttle House.
