Why do we care if you upgrade ? If you like what you have great !

As to your specific question; I have a note 4. It was an upgrade from a note 2 and I updated for 2 specific reason:

verizon added some new frequencies the note 2 did not pick up so I had reception isuses in certain areas and visibility outside sucked. It turns out to have other benefits - people I call say the call quality is significantly better (they think I'm on a land line) and clarity (sound) is generally better. It is faster and has a nicer display than the note 2 but i would not have upgraded for those two qualities as the note 2 was fast enuogh and the display good enuogh (other than lack of visibility outside).
If you didn't care, you probably wouldn't have posted in the first place.

At any rate, it was the dropped signals when I needed it that finally pushed my hand, along with a hard freeze right after it connected.

edit: I don't suppose a Tegra 2 device would be powerful enough for HTPC duty would it? The Micro HDMI port makes it a cheap conversion, and the 32 GB card gives ample room for most of my SD media. Aside from a lack of remote, it should work decent enough and frees my laptop for productivity.

Nope my iPhone 6+ doesn't need more memory, it never lags. I have 10 apps open at the moment and Safari isn't stuttering at all. My 4S with 512mb running iOS 6 performed on par with my M7 with 2 gigs on 4.4 Windows Phone also runs fast with far less memory than Android. IMHO Android's the only OS that needs 2-4 gigs. I would take a 1 gig WP device over a 4 gig Android device, but that's just me.

Oh come on. Everything lags. There is no "no lag" in electronics. There are always lags unless/until microprocessors advance to the point of mind-reading capability. Even then humans can defeat them and make them lag by deliberately taking irrational steps.

Only thing that do not lag, input-wise, is probably pen and paper. Though on a second thought, even there you might find aficionados arguing over which pen's tip is smoother or what kind of paper works best with such a pen.

I have an iPad Air in front of me now and I see lags and frame drops everywhere. I might have claimed "lag-free experience" on certain devices in the past out of ignorance, but I don't make such claims today. Everything lags. What differentiates them in our perception is 1) the kind of lags, 2) the degree of lags, 3) how well software hides lags.

Just had my G2 delivered. Gotta say, the lack of stuttering is almost unnerving. Browsing is also remarkably fast, and the addition of LTE is great for an anime junkie like myself. Putting the thing through it's paces now. Kinda amazing to think though that this thing has similar GPU power to the Radeon 5470 in my lappy.

for a decent new price-performance-ratio phone working on T-mobile...

I'd say Samsung Avant is good for futureproof (VoLTE/WiFi Calling/band 12 LTE, $150), but it's touchwiz and middle tier (1.5GB, qHD)

Otherwise, Moto G LTE (<$200) is a decent choice too, almost pure android, but no VoLTe/WiFi Calling/band 12 LTE, middle tier too

used, maybe you can find a Nexus 5/ LG G2/G3 below $300

I got my partner the Avant for Christmas off contract ($100 after discounts-Metro PCS, now it's $70), and he really likes it coming from the iLife and an $80/mo. plan. He had no loyalty after Apple screwed him on his iMac.

It connects on the 5Ghz band and even has NFC. It was really easy to beam him a photo. The display is very readable. Some content looks better/bigger on the lower res screen.

I am glad you like it. That is a great phone!

I would suggest going to Swappa.com, and looking at TMobile devices. You can get a Galaxy S4 for around $200, or a Galaxy S3 for $140. I've bought all our Family phones on Swappa, and they've all worked great, and were in excellent condition (all looking practically brand new). If your phone is in OK shape, you should be able to get $50 for it, on Ebay, so upgrading to a Galaxy S3 would be less than $100. The S3 has replaceable battery, SD card slot, good ROM support, and a way better screen than what you have. You shouldn't need to be convinced...
