Cooking in a hotel room

I'll be in a hotel room with the wife and kids for the next week. Back in the summer, I bought an electronic skillet and we took it on vacation. Here's the short list of things I made:

Pancakes, eggs, bacon(microwave)

Hot dogs(simmered in water until cooked)
Grilled Cheese sandwiches

Shrimp & Grits (bacon+sauteed vegetables+shrimp in skillet and quick grits in the microwave)


I suppose I could do some frozen skillet meals to include vegetables and pasta with ease, but wanted to get some more ideas. Kid friendly + easy prep for 1 skillet are what I'm looking for.

Cooking isn't so bad, just don't try to butcher your own hog. They really hate that.

I ran an extension cord to the outside patio when I stayed in a hotel by Disneyland. Worked perfectly.

True. I'll throw some Mexican blend cheese and flour tortillas/slasa on my grocery list. That won't take much space up in the fridge either.

the natural extension of that would be fajitas for dinner so you can leverage your quesadilla supplies.

Hot dogs are already pre-cooked when you buy them. You can heat those puppies up in the microwave for a few seconds and a quick dinner.

Enchiladas work really well surprisingly. Just have to put in extra liquid so the bottom. Otherwise the bottoms go crispy, which you may or may not like.

Cooked quite a bit on my clothes iron in the army.

Just put some foil over it and you can even do hamburgers directly on one.

A small pot and a small pan work well on a securely propped clothes iron. :biggrin:
