Cool Master HAF 912 (2010) to Cooler Master HAF 932 Advanced. Is it worth it?

I've had my case since 2010 and it's still in good shape. Link in sig. There is a sale on the newer model and I'm wondering if it's worth the upgrade, if anyone knows.

I don't think anyone wants to buy a used case so, I'm guessing I would take a full hit on this.

My only concern is that my MB supports USB 3.1. Though there isn't anything out there that uses 3.1. I'm talking real 3.1 not the renamed 3.1 gen 1 stuff. It maybe something I want to use in the future. The new case front panels is USB 3.0, so I would be in the same boat where I have to use the two rear USB ports. But this is all future/theory-craft.

A bonus I would think is, I just got a Fury X and the radiator doesn't screw in properly on my only case and sits at the bottom. I think it will on the new one and I could top mount it.

Personally i would recommend a different case like the phantek enthoo pro, or a fractal define, or even a NXZT.


But honestly if your board has 3.1 support and a onboard cable pin i would wait for a case with 3.1 support before i go shopping.

I'm still all misty-eyed about the days with our veteran-modder friends here when folks were doing "real" sheet-metal work and even building their own cases from scratch. Among other things, I toyed with the idea of buying a brake-press to bend sheet-metal.

So for something as minor as having front-panel "USB 3.1," I wouldn't make that a criterion for buying a case. You can buy front-panel USB hubs in 2.0, 3.0, and probably (soon) 3.1 flavors. You can probably buy a 2-port USB 3 cable/3.5"-front-panel assembly for $20, and the hub would cost about the same or only a bit more. If you have a 3.5" faceplate from ANY computer case, you could mod it with a Dremel and secure a two-port cable to it, after picking the right color of plastic enamel.

It would be nice to buy a case all ready and without the bother for such things, but you'd have a wider choice of cases and possibly even make up the expense of the modding DIY materials among those choices.
