I disagree. I think it's a warm deal. A pre-order below retail.

Put in my preorder for the G5 with buy.com, I've been needing a better mouse. The latest Microsoft mouse I have ... the scroll wheel is too smooth to bind to keys reliably.

I hope they revive either the two thumb buttons or go with another MX1000-ish design. Seriously. I probably won't buy one though since I've already got two MX1000s

I like the backlit individual keys, vs. keyboards where the whole thing glows around the keys. Now give me one like that where every key is lit (looks like only certain ones are), and remove the LCD and G-keys, and I'll buy it.

Saitek Eclipse is what you seek!
Thanks but I don't really care for that wild design. I like the styling and keypress feel of M$ and Logitech keyboards.

I'd like to see a real world review of the G7 to see if it really doesnt lag at all despite being cordless. I love my MX700 to death but the lag of being cordless really does me in when gaming. Specially when playing sniper

And man does it really suck they nixed one of the side buttons

I never have experience lag on my MX700, maybe you should move your base station, it might be getting some interference.

yeah I have a G7 (since Quakecon), moved from a MX518, and there is no lag. It is a great gaming mouse, BUT it only has 1 left thumb button.

I was used to 2. I switched back for that reason alone, though I didn't like the all slick plastic feel of the G7. I wanted some tactile feel on the thumb section.

It is a very good gaming mouse too, and swtiching the batteries when it is dead is awesome.

Ditto.
I wish they find a way to add more thumb buttons to the mouse.
I find it easier to use the thumb buttons than I do with those tiny buttons in the middle.

you can set the scroll wheel side tilt for a function that those buttons would have, I dont think the MX had it.

It is easier to use the thumb buttons than the scroll wheel because you dont have to move any fingers, your thumb is already there. The tilt wheel will be nice for web surfing but not for gaming. It'll be too easy to accidentally move the scroll wheel. They should just stick a laser into the MX510 and the MX518. I would buy that.

does anyone know if this keyboard lets you press more than 3 keys at a time? So far the only keyboard that i've found to allow this is the zboard...

edit: "Full-N-Key-Rollover" that's what im looking for

i wonder how programmable those macros are? i currently use a nostromo speedpad for macros, but it can be annoying to load the software and then run all the crap in the middle of the game to adjust the timing on something. for example, i might want 1234 pressed in quick succession, then a 5 second pause, then the same keys pressed again, and this process repeated over and over again, without me holding onto the button. or for one button to be pressed every minute and a half without me intervening again.

yes, i'm a macro'er

The G7 looks really cool, except I don't like that they removed one of the side buttons.

I'll probably still end up buying one anyway though.

yeah that was HUGE mistake. keyboard is amazing but a crazy expense.

they should have kept those buttons but oh well
if its the same size as the mx1000 i might get one

That doesn't seem bad to me...or maybe I just think it's unrealistic to expect a week of battery life for a high-performance mouse

Edit: I put my MX700 on the charger at least nightly when I'm not using the computer...it's not that inconvenient IMO

Go to logitech, find the G7, and click on the demo.

The RF dock for the G7 has a spare USB port, and battery charger. The batteries are shaped like compact flash cards. Pop out, pop in. Your spare battery charges while you use your primary. I think thats HAWT, no down time for recharging.

The keyboard is exactly what I want. The G keys are great it I love having the extra functions keys to the side that allowed for extra programming. Interesting how old stuff becomes new again. The LCD I could pass on to drop the price.
