For everyone having problems resuming from standby or hibernation, it is caused by the Intel Application Accelerator ("IAA") V2.22...
I have modified the .inf from the V2.22 to enable installing of the V2.30 IAA. I have explained it at the infoarena.com forums...
Everything works great with the V2.30 IAA installed...

Has anyone run their serial number through the warranty status at either Hitachi or Toshiba? I am curious, especially about the Hitachi, whether you can get service without going through Dell.
Hitachi warranty information
It looks like these drives are warranted by the distributor, not Hitachi.Originally posted by: SimMike2

I would think that Dell would service this drive even if it's not in a Dell. I called to return a product before, and when they asked me for the service tag, I just told them that it was not a machine that I was returning, it was a peripheral. They proceeded to the next question rather than requiring a service tag.Originally posted by: SimMike2
...If I get at least one year out of the drive, I won't complain too much. Three or even more years would be fantastic. If it dies in a few months I'll be pissed.
Again, I would assume that Dell would warrant the drive in a machine with an expired warranty, but I am not sure. I don't see how they could require that users extend their laptop warranty in order to honor warranty on a peripheral. What if we were buying a keyboard or RAM?Originally posted by: lostatlantis
i got in on this deal, but I was wondering what kind of warranty do I get if I own a dell laptop but its warranty has expired?

I tested my machine again with a fresh install. Before installing the IAA, standby worked. It works now with IAA installed too (v 2.2.2). I didn't test standby extensively last time I guess, may have just not worked that time I tested it. I usually hibernate, not standby.
Thanks for fixing the inf file for 2.3.
From my experience, no, the new 5400 RPM Hitachi drive does not seem to suck up more power than my old 4200 RPM IBM Travelstar. They last the same amount of time on my Inspiron 8200 (> 2 hrs) according to my experience.Originally posted by: xDeLiRiOuSx
Could someone please give me this piece of information? It doesn't have to be exact, it could be from your experience. If you have a few minutes just answer yes or not as to weather the new harddrive (5400rpm) sucks up more battery than your old harddrive (4200rpm).
