Still waiting :\

it was supposed to arrive 8/11, 8/13 is here and gone, and unfortunately, still no package!

I went to the post office with the parcel number today and asked them if they had it / could track it. They said it wont even come up on their system, so its probably not in the U.S.

Sent an E-mail to ToyEast after I found that tidbit of info out, so, we'll see what happens when they reply (it should just now be 9am over there... )

I just got my toyeast package, it took about like a full 15 days roughly to come.

I got the cheap $9.90 one.
It works fine for flat surfaces and would be fun to set up a track with some friends, but if u put it on the slightest bit of an incline, it has no power to go up it. Fun little toy, hope I can convince my friends to buy one so we can have races or something while drinking, hehe.

Do the more expensive ones:
(a) last longer (the charge)
(b) have more power to go up small inclines?

The steering on the Digi-Qs is not like the steering on the bits. The Digi-Qs use differential steering -- one motor on each of the rear wheels -- and the front wheels DO NOT turn. For example, for the Digi-Q to turn left, the motor on the right side turns faster than the one on the left and the car goes left, and visa versa.

Your absolutely correct. And those were the specs I was expecting when I received my knock-off Digi-Q. But I ordered the OEM Digi-Q from Toyeast .com and these are very different from the originals made by Takara. The OEM Digi is built similar to the Bit Char-g such as it actually turns by the front wheels moving left or right and it is drivin by a single motor. But in addition, it uses 2 infrared bulbs on the gun control instead of radio signals (seems to have better range than my OEM Bit Char-g and has no problems with minor objects in "line of sight") and it has proportional speed. I can actually press the trigger slightly on the control and the car crawls like a snail. . .then gun it and it hauls "apples." I've started favoring this car more than the others I have. The only negatives for me is that it looks too bubbly and also it uses AAA batteries which I seem to have to replace more often than those using AA. I am considering buying an original Tomy and Takara for curiousity's sake.

I thought all Digi-Qs were built alike ... I guess not. The Takara ones (that's all I have) use IR for control signals, and I've found the range to be superior to my Bits R/C range (no mods).

I also think the Digi-Qs look a little 'bubbly.' Because of that, the new VW Bettle is the most realistic looking one. Still waiting for the F1 Digi-Qs from Takara. I've only seen them online but they look sweet!

Update on my whole Bit Char-G experience so far.

Recap: Bought 2 OEM TT Tree Celicas (ordered 2 diff. freq) from Toy East and 1 Tomy/Tomica Honda NSX-R from Ebay.

The TT Trees came with 2.2 motors and the NSX-R came with a 1.0 motor. Unfortunately, both TT Trees were the same frequency so my friend & I couldn't use them together. I emailed Steve @ toyeast to see if I could exchange one, but he never responded so I ended up selling the "extra" one to another co-worker. Played with the one I gave my friend - the 2.2 motor is almost too powerful - playing with it on our office tables (formica tops) it was easy to spin out & lose control. However, it seems identical to the Tomy NSX-R. We could play with it for around 5 min or more before having to recharge it. The NSX-R came with the 1.0 motor and it is much much slower than the 2.2, but much easier to control. However, the range on the Tomy sucked - only got about 5 ft of range before it didn't respond. Didn't find the cripple capacitor either. Also had good run times. But I can't say I'm at all disappointed with the TT Tree OEM brand.

Since I never got my "2nd car", I just recently ordered another OEM TT Tree RX-7 (hopefully get a different frequency this time), a set of tires, and a 2.6 motor for my NSX-R from ToyEast. Should get here in another week or so if history repeats itself.

Been looking at various tracks on TinyRC, Quest for Madness, The Admirals Lair, and have plans to make one out of foam insulation which has had great results. However, this Lego track is one of the coolest ones I've EVAR seen.

They are pretty fun, but kinda dull to play solo - I imagine we'll have much more fun when we can race them.

toyeast.com also messed up my frequency for my oem tt skyline. I got a 27mhz instead of whatever I was supposed to get. I do get nice range on it though. It has a range of at least 5ft with the antenna down. I also modded the remote by replacing the wire antenna with a rod extendable antenna.

My friend's NSX-R had a cripple capacitor. Just look really hard at every capacitor on the board, front and back. He found one with a sloppier soldering job than all the rest, and after alot of inspection, it did connect L3 and R9. After removing it, he got about the same range as my red Evo VII with the cripple capacitor removed (which was much easier to find).

I also did the retractable antenna mod to my remote and cat-5 car antenna. I like to hold the remote like a video game controller, horizontally, but that reduces the range and even stutters at 1 foot sometimes. Found a 2 foot retractable antenna with full swivel and tilt to solve my problem. The best thing is it is only 4.25 inches long when retracted so it runs along the top of my controller and only sticks out a little. Got it at Radio Shack, catalog number 2701413. I got maybe a foot or two more out of the range indoors plus the convenience of a more comfortable hand position. I'm expecting dramatic results outdoors though 40 feet was pretty good before the mods.

I can't believe there is so many post about micro rc car.

Well, my friend and I was at the mall the other day and they were selling it for $20, but they offer it for 2 for $30.

Also, to the guy that said he research about 8 hours on this, that is pretty crazy. Information overload, I think you need a break.

This is cool stuff...to some people. Hobbies are very time consuming. This isn't different than any other in that either you get it or you don't.

Looks like ToyEast is crapping out on customer service. Bought 4 OEM units and 1 came in DOA. They repsonded to first email with "Just let us know what parts you need". I've sent several emails since then (2 weeks) and that was the last I've heard. I'm disputing the charge now.

Well... the original post made me look into this as well and I ended up buying two from a place called Junkyspot.
Service was personal (I think it is a guy running the store on the side), friendly and quick.
Quick was also the shipment and I got my two cars within 3-4 days after the order.
I was impatient and didn't feel like waiting for a package from Asia.
Another reason was my immanent move and change of address. Which makes Mailorder a hastle.

A friend of mine came and helped me move and we took brakes playing with the two cars. It is amazing how fast you can get creative having these little things.
The Game we used to play most was simple "TAG". One had to catch the other car and touch it. If you left the surface you automatically became the hunter.

I wanted to share the experience with another relative in Germany and ended up filming last nights session. I put the movie up on my homepage and figured I might as well share it with all of you. So here is the Video.
Yes... it is WMV and not divx... but cut me some slack... I just moved and not all computers are set up yet

I was surprised to find the total game of tag took 9 Minutes. That is much more then the 2 minutes advertised run time of these little things.
You don't need to watch the whole session, but you get an idea about their size and how the run.
Game ended with my Yellow car running out of juice.

Oh... and if you are wondering what the little "black" things are that appear in the picture on ocassion.... that would be the top of the antenna from the remote.

Just tried my car outdoors. I stopped at about 75 feet because it was just getting ridiculous and I could not see the car well enough to be of any practical use, but it worked fine. The retractable controller antenna and cat-5 car antenna work pretty well

TxBBQ,

I just checked out the OEM Digi-Qs at ToyEast. Does your controller have a channel selector switch? I didn't see one in the picture.

Also, they have a four-car charging station for the Digi-Qs on thier site for pre-order ... charge up to four cars at once. This thing looks to plug into the wall and if so, it will certainly save on AA batteries (although I haven't gone through many myself yet).

I got myself one of these for $30 BitChar bucks on ebay. It's cool for awhile, but I got tired of it in like 5 days.

jharris,

There's no channel selector switch. Apparently there are 4 different colored cars with 4 different channels but each controller is made specific per car (and Toyeast only has the white and silver on their site). Also no trim on controller. Only trim is the one for the steering such as on a bit char-g. Other than the infrared control and proportional speed, this car is more a Bit Char-g than a Digi-q copy. Even the size is exactly the same as the Bits.
I can't find the charger. If it's for the Takara brand, then most likely the OEM won't work on it. Oh well. AAA batteries aren't too expensive. I can always use the drained ones for my remotes. They seem to have enuff juice to work for a month or two.

Seems like they might be overloaded with orders.. Their oem section only has 5 different cars now. The bullet - leyu models have dropped down to $8.01 though.

Just got mine today from ToyEast. All in all 12 days from order to delivery (regular air mail). Not bad.

As for the car, it is COOL! Had to show it off to everyone at work and now everyone wants one. The cat is slowly showing some interest in it.

The microsizers are available in the US now (it looks like for between $30 and $40), so the ToyEast route with the knockoffs seems like a pretty good option still.

Just got back from Grapevine Mall in Grapevine, TX. There were 2 places selling these.

One from one of the carts near Burlington was $19.99. On the opposite end in a store called Kirkland's Outlet
was selling for $14.99. I bought one from each and it seems the one on the cart was better quality. My friend
has the Tomy original and it was faster than his 2.6 motor. Quality was almost as good. The one in Kirkland was
pretty low quality, but it works. They are a blast to play with.
