I have 2 questions:

I've taken apart the front end of my Bit Char-G to re-align the steering magnet after it fell off the table 1 too many times. The white steering adjuster that you can use to fine-tune the steering looks like it doesn't do a thing. Does anybody else think so?

My other question is, is everyone else that caught onto the craze also in love with the real cars that these are based on? I've been drooling over the Evo, Skyline GTR, and Impreza WRX STi forever. I don't think I would have cared too much for these cars if the only bodies offered were Chevy Camaros, Ford Mustangs, and NASCAR cars.

2. i dont like cars really buy i have been bringing this everywhere and some people are like sweet and know the car and how much it costs and that its only avaliable in japan and stuff ...

I opened up the car and resoldered the wires for forward and reverse by switching them, now it works in the proper direction. Anybody else have this problem?

It's the headlights. I was going to buy them but couldn't justify it for the price.

I tried my Bit Char-G outside the other day. I only get about 11 feet range indoors, but it went to about 40 feet in a parking lot. It was pretty cool. The only mod so far is the removed crippler capacitor.

I got my cars today. It was supposed to arrive on the 10th. My OEM bitchar Celica goes a bit to the left when it goes forward, but I adjusted it and it goes fairly straight now. Can't wait until I bring them home.

Got my Bit -- special edition w/2.6 motor -- last Friday and it looks sweet! I like all the mods the Bits have, but my Digi-Q is the better handling of the two. The proportional speed and turning make it much easier to handle right out of the box ... especially with the programmable controller! I also found the range of the (unmodified) Bit to be a lot shorter indoors.

All that being said, I think there's room on my desk for a few of each!

Mine was on the back. The best way to find it is to look for the capacitor with a sloppy soldering job. All of the other components on the board are machine soldered and are very smooth dots. The crippler capacitor was done by hand as a post-production modification. As long as it connects between L3 and R9, it is the one. Looking at the green side of the board, most of the board is conductive. The small etched channels separate the electronic paths. My capacitor was soldered from L3 to a big island of conductive green that also happened to be connected to R9 if I looked hard enough.

my OEM bit has some messed up steering.. veers left when i'm trying to go straight, and sometimes the car doesn't even respond to the controller. my digi-Q on the other hand is way better. extremeley fast, good controlling, and flat-out cool..

Which Digi_Q did you buy? The original one or the OEM one? I am debating which one I should get.

I played around with the steering fine-tune adjuster some more. It seems to work, but is counter-intuitive. When I turn it towards the driver's side, the car naturally veers towards the passenger side, and vice-versa. It really does this (at least on mine), I triple checked it.

Just placed my order for a red Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution from JunkySpot. It's a 2-man operation in San Mateo CA - I've had several friendly emails from Emory answering my questions. It's got the 1.0 motor, which I figure is fine for my 9-yr old to start off with. Sure will be a lot different from the Associated RC10T2 he has with the mod motor!

Kendogg,
The problem may be poor contact from the battery in your bitchar to the motor. When I fisrt installed mine, the same thing happened. Try pulling the motor out again and take a look at the back end of it. There is a little metal square contact that touches against the plate in the chassis. Try putting it at the bottom when you put it back into the chassis.

As for the range, that can be improved very easily. There's probably a crippler on your controller. There is a how-to on the net about it where it is and how to remove it, but I can't find it now. If you look into the clear part of the controller on the left side (by the little plastic loop), you'll see a long green capacitor with 4 stripes on it. If you see somthing connecting from that capacitor to another, smaller capacitor to the left of it, then you have a crippler. You just have to remove that connection and you should get at least another 5-7 feet out of it. Try to find the how-to on the web, it has pictures. Something else you can do is a simple mod that moves antenna to the front of the car, kind of like a real car's antenna. There's a mod out there for that too, real quick and simple and added another few feet to my range. Hope all this helps.

PS check out this link for some pics and a link to the crippler capacitor mod, although ausmicro appears to be down right now.

I have an original Digi-Q -- the Audi TT. I think all the current Qs are too 'rounded' looking. This is why I think the New Beetle looks the most realistic. Overall, the Bits look a little better, but that will change when the F1 Qs come to market (when?). They looked very nice! I think the Q tanks will be good too.

same thing happened to me!

What I've found helps, is using your index finder to slightly touch the antennae while your driving hte car. Just so you lift it up a bit, and hold it while driving. That helps. About the range. . . the supra is a brand new design, I've read, and no one has found the cripple cap just yet. . .

Yeah, I just got my Supra this afternoon. I also ordered the 3.0 engine. Too much fun! It does not have the cripple capacitor in the controller, so I guess it's only the older models. The car screams with the 3.0 motor, but I did notice that it was responding a little jerkily. I believe the problem isn't with the motor but with interference from the motor with the antenna. I'm going to do the antenna mod this evening and that should correct the problem plus it does improve the range signifcantly, although I tested it out and got about 24 feet before the interference got really bad... I almost hate to do it, the body design on the Supra is sweet, though the body is a little larger that the older models. Now if I can just keep from flipping the thing.

Still waiting on my final order, the Initial D set, with the four band controller, a 2.2 motor and a wheel set. I gotta stop buying these things!
