Nice price on this one. The price is 121.99. There's an instant rebate when placing into your cart until 1/6/03 which brings it to 91.99. Then the mir from canon of 50. brings it to 41.99. The free shipping leaves it at 41.99 delivered. The instant rebate is stated on this page under discription. Mir does expire 12/31.

buy.com

I know this printer is already posted, but I didn't see any from here, buy.com

Buying this printer with the included carts is cheaper than buying the carts separate by themselves.

Even with free shipping withdrqwn it's cheaper than buying ink carts separate.

Great deal, I have a S300 and I'm looking for a better photo printer and this will fit the bill.

The s820 is MUCH better. I have the s9000, their top of the line wide carriage printer. The s900 is exact same only not wide carriage. The s820 has exactly the same print quality, only it has half as many print nozzles so it takes twice as long. The 900/9000 si rated at one minute per 8x10 photo (using photo paper pro default settings) and the s820 at two minutes. Its also a 6 color printer and is individual carts. The exact same as the s900/9000. The i320 is not even in the same ball park. The comperable printer to the s820 is the i850 and it's much more expensive.

Check em both out here

The resolutions are different for Black.

Canon S820: - 6 ink tanks - Connectivity via IEEE/USB/Parallel
2400 x 1200 dpi in Black
2400 x 1200 dpi in Color

Canon I320: - 4 ink tanks - Connectivity via USB only
600 x 600 dpi in Black
2400 x 1200 dpi in Color

The 820 is a Photo printer and prints excellent quality (comparable to professional print outs and prints out photos very very fast.). But it is very slow for normal text printing (~2.20 pages / minute) as comparted to normal inkjet printers.
On the other hand, 320 is a later model and a all round printer and prints ~ 5.5 pages / minute on text. But the photo printing quality is not as good as the 820.

I was also trying to make a decision between the 2 printers and decided to go with 820. Go with the 820 if you can handle the slow text print speeds else go with the 320.
PS: I have a Laser printer on the side for text printing, so text printing is not a priority for me but it maybe for those who have only 1 printer.

The Canon model line is as follows:
800 series: Top of the Line
500 series: Middle Order
300 Series: Bottom of the Line

I series: Latest Series
S series: Older than I series.
Thanks

dam should have bought this instead. I was primarly looking for a cheap photo printer and saw the i320 first. The photo prints are okay if you use the good photo paper (220gms or something) but if you use the 160 weight paper the pictures are not so good. Then again it might be my 2.2 olympus digital camera screaming to be upgraded peace.

I picked this up at Staples this morning. It is incredible. The picture printing quality is the best I have ever seen. I am so impressed that I bought another one for my daughter from Buy.com. You will not regret this purchase, and Megatoners has the ink for around 2 a pop.

Don't go by the dpi. The s300 also says the same dpi, but there is NO PICTURE QUALITY COMPARISON betwee the s300 and the 820. The i320 is more of a replacememt for the 300 series. If you are going to do pictures at all the 820 is the only way to go. The s820 also goes to 8.5x11 borderless and the i320 just 4x6. The build quality is not even close.

The i320 is not considered to be a photo printer by canon.

You can also get bulk refills from inkjetgoodies.com that is dead on with oem and only cost about .80 a cart refill.

I can vouch for that! The S300 is great for webpage printing since its fast and the ink is cheap but as far as picture printing its not good for that, prints looked a lot worse on the S300 than my roommates 960 HP deskjet.

Nice deal! Thanks. So is it OK to receive the printer AFTER 12/31/02 and still get the rebate?

I also have the Canon S9000 (thanks to the Dell misprice quite a few months ago). This is really a good deal for this printer. The individual ink tanks make this a truly great printer, not to mention the excellent quality. I have used both Canon and generic ink from TylerMartin.com and have not noticed any differences, so the ink is not that expensive. Last time I ordered, TylerMartin sold the 6-pack of inks for this (and the S9000) for $15 plus shipping, so around $2.50 each. Very good printer - not as fast as the S900/S9000 but for this price you can't beat it.

Oh yeah, might as well go through Ebates for an additional $1.83 off.

Nice! My Epson 880 just gave up last nite. Any recommendation on a quick and easy software to manage pictures? Photoshop is way too complex. Need to be easy to use for the wifey.

Yup, just found that out. What is this Verified by Visa user discount? Is this just for paying with a Visa card. This is found in "Thin Wallet"

I've heard this printer is pretty slow for everyday printing. If that's what you'll do most, I would go with something else unless you don't mind waiting. The real strength of this printer is photo printing. Nonetheless it is a great price for a very good printer.

Good luck.

Yes, this printer is indeed very slow for everyday printing. This is a PHOTO PRINTER. Unless you want to print photos, get something else.
