Heh - I have two other HPs for text - this momma is going to go nicely with the Canon S30 in my future.

I just purchased an S900 and its AMAZING! Prints a beautiful 4x6 in less than 40 seconds. Granted this one is a bit slower, but it looks just as nice.

Purchased one for my dad and one for my brother.

Thanks!

I'm in! Thanks. Believe it or not, my first color printer - have had a B&W 300dpi laserjet 4l for 12 years now and was planning on not upgrading until I could afford color laser, but this is TOO cheap to pass up. As usual, I'm saving so much money on this forum that I'm broke....

edit: cheaped out... my laserjet does just fine and if I have color I'll just print more and use more expensive ink. Still gonna hold out for laser in a year or two. Good luck to all.

I couldn't get in the Staples deal last week coz Staples didn't accept my $50 coupon. But I think this is a better deal. For those that got in Staples deal earlier, it's time to PM coz Staples just drop their price to $129.98. Staples

This is a great deal on a printer that does great quality prints. You can not compare the quality of a laser color printer to the current photo inkjet printers when printing photos. Lasercolor is good for color business graphics and not ideally suited for printing photographs. The best thing is to have a b/w laser printer for text and the inkjet for photos.

Another thing I observed. Paper and printing software can make a world of difference between a crappy looking print job and one where you would be hard press to find the dot grain on. I purchased some new Premium Glossy Photo paper, and my 2 year old Epson 780 print horribly on it. The paper was too glossy so the ink would sit on top of the paper and smear. In addition, the ink coverage was "crackly" and the details were horrible when compared to pictures printed on Epson's own photo paper. I was directed by some forum members at dpreview to using Canon's Easy touch software. Boy, was I amazed when the picture came out. The software did something to the print process because the picture that came out of the 780 using Canon's easytouch software looks as good as pictures I've seen come out of the canon S9000.

The easytouch software printed better on this paper than the QImage software and Photoshop software I was using to print photos before. I suggest you guys try out the free software even if you don't have a Canon printer.

You can get the ink cartridges at Megatoners for $2 each. Granted they are generic, but you can;t tell the difference.

I mean to say Kodak's Easytouch software. It's free from Kodak's website.

Do you mean Kodak EasyShare software? I couldn't find anything called easytouch.

If the rebate expires on 12/31, are you taking a chance by getting it from buy.com? Will your invoice show a purchase date of 12/30 or at least 12/31? What if they don't process it for two days?

I also have the Canon S9000 (thanks to the Dell misprice quite a few months ago). This is really a good deal for this printer. The individual ink tanks make this a truly great printer, not to mention the excellent quality. I have used both Canon and generic ink from TylerMartin.com and have not noticed any differences, so the ink is not that expensive. Last time I ordered, TylerMartin sold the 6-pack of inks for this (and the S9000) for $15 plus shipping, so around $2.50 each. Very good printer - not as fast as the S900/S9000 but for this price you can't beat it.

Hehe, i got my s9000 from the Dell misprint also. 318. delivered. This gives the same quality photo print for 41.99. I wish I needed one. This is not the best text printer in the world, as stated. Excellent photo printer though.

I forgot to add, this printer that comes with a full set of carts is actually cheaper than buying a full set of carts by themselves.

I call them and ask them if including the email confirmation is proof enough, and at the extreme end of the spectrum, return the printer

I read through the details on the rebate and did not see a limit on rebates. I may buy a second just for the ink cartridges.

A copy of your receipt is available online as soon as you place your order. It says "Receipt" at the top and has the date. It will stay available at the buy.com site for a long time (months?) but you might as well go ahead and print it out.

If you order more than one I recommend separate orders.

I ordered several today. Thanks.

As someone else posted before, go with Megatoners.com for cheap replacement ink carts. I've used them in my Epson 1270 with good results. I assume the Canon carts should be just as good also.

Can anyone comment on the quality and speed of printing mostly text based documents, web pages, and black&white scans on generic (whatever's cheap that month) paper? I'm still using an ancient HP682C for all my printing needs, but it would be nice to be able to replace it with a printer that will do decent text and web stuff on cheap paper and nice photo stuff on photo paper. I saw one comment somewhere that said the software for the S820 had no option to print B&W/grayscale of a color source. Can anyone confirm?

No more free shipping :-( $20+ for shipping is a bit too much, so I guess I'll pass. Damn! Great deal otherwise!

It definitely cools it down some, but it's still a great price. Before the cheap prices today 71. and change was a hot deal on this printer.

61.99 is Still cheap fro the printer. The ink carts separate cost 72.00 retail (like best buy) and they are free with the printer.

On the s900/9000 there is a box you check in the driver for greyscale. I assume it's the same for the s820 since it's the same print engine, just a little slower.

I hate when they play games like that. Glad I got in on it before they withdrew the free shipping.

1YP,

It wasn't there 9:30 this morning. It's alright though.. I've put in the pricematch request. Hopefully, they'll honor it.

Hmmm, with this link...

Link

The free shipping banner still appears, but it won't let me add it to my cart.

Edit:

Never mind, they changed that one too.
