The cases are design to hold one hardrive. They also come with thermal adhesive pads which you can cut and shape to help with the heat transfer from the hardrive to the case.

It is a hard drive cooler + fan controller (3 independent channels control your CPU/case fans)

I ordered the same product (black though, while this one is silver) from xoxide.com a couple of weeks ago @$24.99 here:
http://www.xoxide.com/cooler-master-cool-drive-6-black.html
Fortunately (yes, fortunately), it was cancelled because of out of stock. (Still out of stock even now)

newegg now has it(black only) for $12.99 + 4.99 shipping.

Similar deal as svc since shipping @svc starts from around $8.

But if you order more than one, svc is better.

Newegg doesn't have the black ones for $13+$5 shipping...or I can't seem to find it...

That was the old post... I guess they're out of them now.

I resurrected this post because svc sent out email today restating the silver being on clearance and not wanting to see the dreaded "repost" replies.

FWIW, I have 3 silver ones from SVC mounted in a black case and they look just fine. I was skeptical but these did make a noticeable (7-10 deg C) difference on my hot running Maxtors.

As others have stated, the software is rather quirky and sometimes won't talk to the unit or forgets the names I've assigned to the different temp/fan channels. A real annoying bug is that even though the display can show 9 characters the software gives an array bounds error if you put in more than 8 .

Tip for those installing multiple units but not needing 12+ fan/temp channels (I mean who really needs to monitor 12 temps in their case?!?): You can unplug the fan/temp leads you don't need so you don't have a big ball of wires to deal with in the case. Clip the two cable ties with the fan/temp leads, remove the 4 bottom screws in the black cover, and the 4 side screws near the front. You can then slide the electronics out of the front (you will have to work the power & usb leads through the cable ties to give some slack). Unplug which ever temp/fan sensors you won't need. I left temp channel 3 connected and mounted the sensor to the back of the drive so Fan 3 and Temp 3 are for the contained hard drive.

I ran the 3 USB connections through the back of the case and plugged them all into a small non-powered 4 port USB hub so I'm only using one mobo USB port (btw, I had the software connection issues even with the cables plugged directly into ports).

Overall, well worth $10 + shipping a pop, I doubt I'd pay more than $20 though.

Even with the internal fan turned completely off the Cooldrive6 does an excellent job of keeping the hard drive cool, resulting in a 10°C drop in load temperatures compared to the bare drive. This is a good thing, since the internal fan is likely to turned off permanently in any system where noise is a concern. The noise at full speed can be best described as, "too much airflow, not enough exhaust". This is probably a combination of the restricted intake locations and the turbulence of the air squeezing past the hard drive and the enclosure. The little fan just thrashes the air around inside its compartment. At about 1/2 speed, the airflow turbulence is minimized and the entire unit is markedly quieter.

As for the drive noise levels, the Cooldrive 6 made a noticeable improvement compared to a conventional rigid mount, even with its fairly limited decoupling features. Full elastic suspension is still superior to all the rubber grommets and soft thermal pads in the world. Whine is reduced noticeably, but seeks can still be clearly felt on the exterior of the unit.
