My AMD64 3000+ is running hotter and hotter as I get more aquainted with it. Reaching 60+ degrees celcius. I ordered AS5 and I'm going to put it on to try and drop a bit as the heatsink doesn't seem to get that warm as it is. I have the stock HSF and I am just wondering if this will void the warranty by removing them to put the AS5 on. If I have a 3 year warranty and it seems to be running fine should I even be that concerned?

Thats definitely hot heh. "technically" in the computer world, doing almost anything voids a warranty. But its almost impossible for them to tell. I wouldnt woryy about it to much. But yes, putting as5 on it will void the warranty. As well as using an aftermarket custom heatsink as well.

Are you ocing or something? Thats a very high temp. I would turn your stuff off and make sure the heatsink is on correctly. Or down all the way. AS5 isnt going to fix that temp down to where it should be. AS5 is only a minior decrease. If that doesnt work, I dont know what to tell you. Check the bios to see if it is at the correct voltage (my mobo has a problem with the right stock voltage)

I would almost say that the sensor is wrong by that temp. If the heatsink is attached correctly, and it doesnt feel that warm, might be a sensor problem.

Damn and I thought my 40C at stock was a problem.

Putting AC5 on the stock heatsink is pretty pointless, roughly the equivalent of putting $250 summer sport tires on a Buick. You're much better off with a better aftermarket heatsink, most if not all of which come with their own decent thermal paste.

And yes technically it will void you're warranty but it hardly matters; once it's cleaned off they have no way of telling what type of heatsink or thermal paste you use.

I'm hoping its a wrong sensor but bios and speedfan show nearly the same. The system passed BurnInTest and I haven't seen any instability yet. I read somewhere that if the heatsink isn't warm at those temps its not making enough contact thats why I was concerned. I didn't build this PC I purchased it online and it has a warranty so should I just not worry?

Well 60C is pretty high. I guess if you dont care and have a warranty lol... I would try to fix the problem. 60C isnt a temp I would want my cpu at.

Thats what I was saying. If it says its 60C and the heatsink doesnt feel warm at all, chances are its not fitted onto the heatsink well. Or the sensor is wrong....

60C is on the warm side but it's far from dangerous. If that's the highest it gets I don't see a problem.

Yes but it seems like hes saying thats 60 idle. What happends when he starts gaming or doing cpu intensive tasks? I guess youre right. I wouldnt want my cpu at 60c idle though. : /

I agree 60C idle is too high, but which is it load or idle?
